  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Two hits, stolen base in win

Marte went 2-for-5 with one RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's victory over the Dodgers.

Marte singled home Corbin Carroll in the top of the fifth to extend Arizona's lead to two runs before also going on to swipe his fourth bag of the season and first since June 11 against the Angels. The second baseman tallied two knocks on the night and has now posted multiple hits in four of his last seven contests. Marte has also hit safely in three straight and in six of his last seven.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Begins rehab assignment

Bogaerts (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a walk in his first rehab game with Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Bogaerts is expected to require 7-to-10 days on his rehab assignment, so he could be back just before the All-Star break if all goes well. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since late May with a fractured left shoulder.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Homers among three hits

India went 3-for-5 with a home run and two additional runs in Thursday's 8-4 win against the Yankees.

India hit one of three homers for Cincinnati, swatting a solo shot in the third inning. He finished with his ninth multi-hit game over his past 12 contests, a stretch during which he's batting a blistering .467 (21-for-45) with Thursday's homer, six RBI, 13 runs and two stolen bases. The hot span has pushed India's season batting average from .241 to .278.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Taking BP with Double-A affiliate

Edman (wrist) will take live batting practice Friday and Saturday at Double-A Springfield, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

If that goes well, Edman should be cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Springfield. Edman was recently set back a few days by a sprained ankle, but that appears to be a non-issue now. The Cardinals had been hoping to get Edman back prior to the All-Star break, but it's possible the little hiccup with the ankle last week will convince the club to push Edman's return back until the start of the second half. He's been out all season while recovering from wrist surgery.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Lands on injured list

The Marlins placed Lopez on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to lower-back inflammation, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The 25-year-old was held out of the lineup the past two days and will now take at least another week to get healthy on the injured list. Jonah Bride was called up in a corresponding move, and he could see time at second base along with Vidal Brujan while Lopez is sidelined.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Taking seat against southpaw

Gorman is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Pittsburgh.

Left-hander Martin Perez is drawing the start on the mound for the Pirates, so the lefty-hitting Gorman will begin this one on the bench. Jose Fermin will occupy second base for the Cardinals.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Sitting against left-hander

Garcia is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Garcia slugged a pair of home runs in Wednesday's win over the Mets but nonetheless finds himself on the bench a day later with southpaw Jose Quintana on the hill. Ildemaro Vargas will be at second base for the Nationals.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Homers twice Wednesday

Garcia went 2-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, three total runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 7-5 win against the Mets.

Garcia hit a three-run shot in the sixth inning and added a solo blast in the eighth. It was the second multi-homer game of the infielder's career, and the four RBI tied a season-high mark. Garcia has already matched the career-high total of nine long balls he accumulated last year, and he's 10 shy of his career-best mark of 50 RBI, which he also reached last season.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Not facing lefty

McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Washington.

McNeil will dodge a matchup with southpaw Mitchell Parker on Wednesday. Instead, Jose Iglesias will play second base and bat eighth.

  • Levi Jordan 2B | CIN

Reds' Levi Jordan: Sent back to minors

The Reds optioned Jordan to Triple-A Louisville, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Jordan received two starts and 11 plate appearances during his brief time in the majors, picking up one hit. He's being replaced on the roster by Blake Dunn.
