  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

Mets' Danny Mendick: Promoted to majors

Mendick was recalled by the Mets on Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

The Mets are in need of infield depth after trading Eduardo Escobar to the Angels on Friday. Mendick fills that role reasonably well, as he's capable of playing across most of the infield. In 317 plate appearances with Triple-A Syracuse this season, he's maintained a .264/.356/.401 line. Mendick's stay in the majors may be short-lived, as Mark Vientos is a candidate to be recalled as soon as he is eligible to return to the majors.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Out of starting lineup

Gorman is out of Saturday's lineup against the Cubs due to illness, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Several Cardinals players have dealt with an illness across the last few days, with Gorman being the latest. He wasn't likely to be in Saturday's lineup regardless of his health, as the Cubs will be sending lefty Justin Steele to the mound. There's a chance that Gorman will be available off the bench to pinch hit.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Swipes 12th bag

Stott went 1-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-1 win over the Mets.

The 25-year-old infielder added to a strong June that has seen Stott slash .313/.351/.493 with two of his seven homers and four of his 12 steals on the year. He's been mainly hitting fifth or sixth in the order lately after spending much of the first part of the season in the leadoff spot.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Drives in three runs

Kim went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a two-run single and two runs scored in Friday's 13-3 win over Washington.

Kim tied his season high for RBI in a game. The second baseman is now on a five-game hit streak, and he has hits in eight of his last nine contests. The third-year veteran now has seven homers on the year and is currently on pace to pass his career high of 11.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Nationals' Michael Chavis: Smacks pinch-hit homer in loss

Chavis went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Friday's 13-3 loss to the Padres.

Chavis subbed in for left fielder Corey Dickerson in the ninth inning and promptly launched a 378-foot shot to left center off southpaw Ray Kerr for his first homer of the season. The former Boston prospect is slashing .262/.311/.333 across just 20 games this year, mostly being used as a late-game option against left-handed pitching.

  • Coco Montes 2B | TB

Rockies' Coco Montes: Raps out three hits

Montes went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 7-4 win over the Angels.

After going 2-for-3 with a home run in his big-league debut June 11, Montes went 1-for-21 with 10 strikeouts over his next nine games. He was able to snap out of the slump Friday, but he's still batting just .214 with three RBI and two runs scored over 31 plate appearances while sharing time with Harold Castro at second base.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Giants' Isan Diaz: Recalled from Sacramento

Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday by the Giants, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Diaz will make the start at second base for the Giants on Friday versus the Diamondbacks. The one-time prospect is now 27 and has struggled in the major leagues with a career .562 OPS over exactly 500 plate appearances. The Giants will announce a corresponding transaction prior to Friday's game.

  • Rockies' Harold Castro: Sitting versus lefty

Castro isn't starting Friday against the Angels, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.

With left-hander Patrick Sandoval scheduled to pitch Friday for Los Angeles, Castro will remain on the bench to begin the game. Coco Montes will start at second base and bat seventh in Castro's absence.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

    Brewers' Owen Miller: Sitting Friday

Miller isn't in the Brewers' lineup Friday against the Guardians.

Miller is just 1-for-22 in his last eight games and will take a seat Friday amid his slump. Luis Urias will shift to second base in Miller's place, moving Brian Anderson to third base and Raimel Tapia in as Milwaukee's right fielder, batting seventh.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Goes deep Thursday

Kim went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and two walks in Thursday's 10-0 win against San Francisco.

The 27-year-old infielder went deep in the fourth inning for his first long ball since May 24, a span of 25 games. Kim has been contributing in other ways, however, posting a healthy .279 batting average and 11.3 percent walk rate along with 12 runs and four thefts through 20 games in June.
