Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Three-hit night in loss
Marte went 3-for-7 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-innings loss to Oakland.
After a slow start to the season, Marte is seeing the ball better and has now hit safely in 12 of 14 games during the month of May (17-for-57). Along with that modest run, Marte has improved his on-base ability, walking eight times to fuel a .382 OBP.

Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW
Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Out of lineup Tuesday
Vargas is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Twins.
Mookie Betts will play second base and hit leadoff to facilitate a fully lefty-hitting outfield for Los Angeles. Vargas went 2-for-5 with a double in Monday's series opener versus Minnesota and boasts a .935 OPS over his last 48 plate appearances.

Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Recalled from Triple-A
Miami recalled Edwards from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
Edwards will add some versatility to the Marlins' position-player mix with Jazz Chisholm (toe) facing at least a month-long absence. Edwards, 23, has batted .316/.431/.390 with zero homers and eight steals in 26 games this season at the Triple-A level. He stands 1-for-6 through three major-league games.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Emerging from slump
Rojas went 2-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 5-2 win over Oakland.
Rojas extended a hit streak to five consecutive games following a brutal 4-for-35 (.114) stretch from April 23 to May 10. Hitting enough has never been a knock on Rojas, so his bat should keep in the lineup most days. It was his work in the field in 2022 that eventually cost him playing time, but Rojas has shown improvement this season with eight outs above average at third base. At this point, he remains on the strong side of a platoon at the hot corner.

Nolan Gorman 2B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Knocks in five runs in rout
Gorman went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two total runs, five total RBI and a walk in Monday 18-1 victory versus the Brewers.
Gorman doubled in two runners to put St. Louis up 7-0 in the sixth inning, and he delivered a three-run homer to increase the lead to 12-1 in the eighth. He's now gone deep three times over his past five contests, batting .500 (7-for-14) with 10 RBI and six runs over that span. The hot stretch has boosted Gorman's slash line to .283/.379/.500 on the campaign, and he's added 10 homers, 33 RBI and three steals over 140 plate appearances.

Harold Castro 2B | KC
Rockies' Harold Castro: Drives in three runs
Castro went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and one run scored in Monday's win over Cincinnati.
Castro knocked an RBI single and came around the score in the first inning. He then gave Colorado a lead with his two-run double in the seventh. Castro entered Monday with a .238 average this month and picked up his first multi-hit game since April 30. He's now slashing .254/.278/.313 with 12 RBI in 25 games.

Brett Wisely 2B | ATL
Giants' Brett Wisely: Sitting Monday against Phillies
Wisely is out of the starting lineup for Monday's contest against the Phillies, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Wisely will get a day of rest to open the series against the Phillies after going hitless in the three games against the Diamondbacks over eight at-bats. Casey Schmitt is starting at second base for the first time in his MLB career with Bryce Johnson hitting ninth and playing center field.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: On track for Friday return
Hoerner (hamstring) remains on track for activation when first eligible Friday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hoerner went through more workouts on Monday, including baserunning drills, and came out of it feeling good. Barring a setback, it would appear he'll skip a rehab assignment and return in time for the Cubs' weekend series in Philadelphia.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Goes through baserunning drills
Hoerner (hamstring) went through baserunning drills Monday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Hoerner took part in other drills over the weekend, but the fact that he's already doing some baserunning less than a week after suffering a left hamstring strain is a good sign. He's eligible to return from the 10-day injured list Friday and would seem to have a realistic shot to be ready to go on that day.

Owen Miller 2B | CHC
Brewers' Owen Miller: Back on bench Monday
Miller is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Miller had started in each of the past four games, with two apiece coming against left-handed and right-handed pitchers. Though he's currently in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak and is now slashing .314/.338/.443 on the season, Miller looks as though he'll remain in a utility role for the time being, with the majority of his starts coming versus southpaws.
