  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Hits seventh homer of season

Gorman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Angels.

The 22-year-old clubbed his seventh home run of the season Wednesday and already halfway to his homer total from his rookie campaign last year. The Cardinals are off to a horrible start in 2023 with a 10-21 record, but Gorman is doing his part at the plate with a .277/.361/.553 slash line, 23 RBI, eight runs and two steals.

  • Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW

Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Homers, steals base in win

Vargas went 1-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, two runs scored and a steal in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Phillies.

Vargas stayed hot Tuesday, smacking his second homer of the season, a two-run shot off Aaron Nola, before stealing his second base. After a slow start to the season, Vargas has gone 11-for-39 in his last 10 games with five doubles and two home runs. The 23-year-old Vargas is now slashing .237/.363/.409 with two home runs, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored in 114 plate appearances while seeing regular playing time at second base.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers again Wednesday

Marte went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI, an additional run and two walks in Wednesday's 12-7 win at Texas.

Marte had just two home runs and six RBI in his first 24 games of the season, but he's surpassed and doubled up those numbers over the past four contests with three long balls and six runs driven in. The 29-year-old typically hits second against right-handed pitchers and leadoff against lefties, so his run scoring is likely to be more consistent than his RBI production.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Sitting out versus lefty

Rojas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

As usual, the lefty-hitting Rojas finds himself on the bench while the Diamondbacks oppose a southpaw (Andrew Heaney). Evan Longoria will check in for Rojas at third base.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Sitting versus lefty

Wisely is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Astros, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

After going 0-for-6 while starting the first two games of the series, Wisely will head to the bench as the Giants face off with left-hander Framber Valdez on Wednesday. Austin Slater will replace him in center field and bat first in the series finale with Houston.

  • Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW

Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Impressive in big win

Vargas went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 13-1 win over the Phillies.

This was Vargas' fourth multi-hit effort of the campaign, and the first time he logged more than two hits. The 23-year-old infielder had a two-run double in the seventh inning and an RBI single in the eighth as the Dodgers piled on runs late. Vargas is still adjusting to major-league pitching, as evidenced by his .236 batting average, but he's gotten on base at a .367 clip thanks to a 16.5 percent walk rate. He has one home run, one stolen base, 13 RBI, 14 runs scored and eight doubles through 109 plate appearances.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Homers in win

Albies went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Marlins.

Albies opened the scoring with a second-inning homer off Sandy Alcantara. It was the eighth long ball of the season for Albies, matching his total in 64 games last season. The two-hit game snaps a 1-for-14 stretch for the 26-year-old second baseman. Albies is now slashing .252/.298/.513 with 13 runs scored and 24 RBI through 124 plate appearances.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Mashes fourth homer

Marte went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 loss against the Rangers.

Marte started the scoring with a first-inning home run. He picked up his second RBI on a sac fly in the second inning. Marte has come across to score 17 runs in 27 games this season, as he hits second in a Diamondbacks lineup producing the 10th-most runs in baseball.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Singles twice, steals bag

Turang went 2-for-4 with one steal in Tuesday's loss against the Rockies.

Turang entered Tuesday with one hit in his previous 18 at-bats. In his first plate appearance, he singled and swiped second for his fourth steal of the season. He did strike out with the tying run on third in the ninth to end the game, but he's now sporting a .603 OPS following Tuesday's production.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Steals base, delivers two hits

Estrada went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one steal in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Astros.

Estrada got the Giants out to a hot start as he singled, stole second and came around to score in the first inning. He was cut down trying to swipe another bag in the fourth inning. The middle infielder has been spectacular in 2023 with a .902 OPS and nine stolen bases.
