Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Peguero is nursing a minor right knee contusion, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. "I would highly anticipate seeing [Peguero] back in the [High-A Greensboro] lineup in the coming days," Tomczyk said.

The bruised knee has kept Peguero out of action since Sunday, but the young shortstop looks poised to get back on the field by the end of the week. The 20-year-old was off to a hot start to the season prior to picking up the injury, slashing .389/.450/.778 with two home runs and four stolen bases in his first five games.

Manager David Ross said Hoerner (forearm) remains on track to return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Friday, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Hoerner was shut down last week after he sustained a minor left forearm strain in a collision with teammate Ian Happ (ribs) in a May 2 game against the Reds. At this point, Hoerner is further along in his recovery from his injury than Happ, who isn't in line to be activated this weekend. Assuming Hoerner is in fact good to go for Friday's series opener in Detroit, he should reclaim an everyday role at second base immediately.

McNeil (cramps) isn't starting Wednesday against the Orioles.

McNeil was removed from Tuesday's matchup with body cramps, and he'll be held out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale. Jose Peraza will start at second base and bat seventh. The Mets don't seem to be overly concerned about McNeil, who will be available off the bench Wednesday, according to Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News.

Frazier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Frazier will sit for just the second time all season in what amounts to a maintenance day after a string of 29 consecutive starts. Wilmer Difo will spell Frazier at second base, while left fielder Ka'ai Tom steps in as the Pirates' leadoff man.

Lux went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Mariners.

Lux singled and scored in the seventh inning, but his big hit came in the following frame. With two outs in the eighth and Los Angeles down a run, the third-year second baseman took Rafael Montero deep to plate three runs and vault his team toward a come-from-behind win. The blast was among the biggest hits of Lux's young career considering the context and the fact that a struggling Dodgers club was in danger of falling to .500 on the season. It also helped build upon a recent strong stretch at the plate for Lux, who is hitting .323 (10-for-31) with five RBI over his past eight games.

Frazier went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Reds.

The eighth-inning shot off Sean Doolittle was Frazier's first homer of the year. The 29-year-old extended his hitting streak to 12 games in the process, and he's batted a dazzling .340 (17-for-50) over that stretch, although he has only one steal, two RBI and six runs to show for it.

Manager Luis Rojas said McNeil (cramps) didn't pull a muscle and feels like he "dodged a bullet" Tuesday against the Orioles Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

The cramping began in the 29-year-old's legs before spreading to his back, but it shouldn't present any long-term issues. McNeil should be considered day-to-day and may not miss much time, if any, though his status for Wednesday's series finale is in doubt with a quick turnaround for the 12:10 ET start.

Marte (hamstring) hopes to begin a rehab assignment Thursday or Friday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

The 27-year-old has been on the shelf for over a month with the hamstring strain, so it's not much of a surprise he'll head to the minors to get back up to game speed before being activated. Marte could return sometime next week if he does begin the rehab stint Thursday or Friday.

McNeil exited Tuesday's game against the Orioles with "body cramps," Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The 29-year-old started off 2-for-2 but pulled up while trying to stretch a single into a double during the fourth inning, and he promptly exited the contest. It's a vague initial diagnosis, so McNeil should be considered day-to-day until the team offers more specifics on the injury.

India is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

India will hit the bench for the third time in four games, seemingly signaling that his time as Cincinnati's everyday second baseman may be over. The rookie has been the victim of the Reds' numbers crunch in the outfield, where both Tyler Naquin and Nick Senzel have proven worthy of regular roles. In order to fit the two in the lineup, Naquin will pick up a second straight start in center field, while Senzel -- who had prior experience at second base in the minors -- steps in for India at the keystone once again.
