Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Scores twice Wednesday

Marte went 1-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Wednesday's 13-7 win over the Padres.

Though he collected his 15th extra-base hit in 64 games, Marte's power production has tapered off dramatically in recent weeks. He's delivered a home run and a pair of doubles over his last 91 at-bats, slashing a meager .220/.301/.275 over that span. Due to his strong defense up the middle along with a lack of attractive alternatives, Marte's starting role still looks to be secure, though that could change heading into the postseason if Chris Owings (finger) proves healthy once he's activated from the 60-day disabled list Sept. 29.

Mets' Amed Rosario: Stomach illness improving

Rosario (illness) returned to the Mets' clubhouse Wednesday and said he was feeling "a lot better," Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The 21-year-old has been out for several days with a stomach illness, which he said was caused by eating an improperly cooked meal last weekend. Rosario is hoping he can return to the lineup Friday for the start of the team's final homestand. After a slow start upon his arrival to the big leagues, Rosario has turned it on at the dish. He seems poised to be the Mets' starting shortstop for many years to come, and he could leap up near the top of the order in 2018.

Mets' Amed Rosario: Likely unavailable Wednesday

Rosario (illness) is out of the lineup and likely unavailable off the bench for Wednesday's series finale against the Marlins, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.

Rosario is improving from gastroenteritis, which caused the shortstop to remain in his hotel room all day Tuesday. He should be able to fly back to New York with the club Wednesday evening, and will use Thursday's scheduled day off to recover from this illness. Looking ahead to Friday's series opener against the Nationals, Rosario should be considered day-to-day, although manager Terry Collins could choose to keep him out of the starting nine if his symptoms fail to subside.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Logan Forsythe: Takes seat Tuesday

Forsythe is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Forsythe is hitting just .200/.304/.350 in 16 games this month, so he'll head to the bench for a second straight game as Chase Utley draws another start at the keystone in his place. He's now sat twice in a row against right-handed pitchers, which suggests he's settling back into the weaker side of a platoon with Utley.

Mets' Amed Rosario: Unlikely to play until Friday

Manager Terry Collins said Rosario (illness) is unlikely to play until at least Friday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Rosario was scratched from Monday's contest with an illness, and it appears he's dealing with something more than a stomach flu. The young shortstop was treated at the University of Miami hospital Monday night, and he's currently back at the hotel resting, making him unavailable Tuesday. With a day off approaching Thursday, the Mets are hoping he'll be healthy enough to return to action Friday against the Nationals.

Mets' Amed Rosario: Scratched with illness

Rosario was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Marlins due to an upset stomach, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Rosario should be considered day-to-day after coming down with a stomach bug prior to Monday's series opener in Miami. With Rosario out of the lineup, Jose Reyes slides over to shortstop while Gavin Cecchini enters at second base.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Back with team, starting at shortstop

Hernandez (personal) has rejoined the Dodgers, and he's starting at shortstop and batting eighth Monday against the Phillies, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

Hernandez is back with the Dodgers after missing their weekend series against the Nationals while attending to a family matter. While the utility man is starting at shortstop in his return to the lineup, he's expected to start in left field against left-handed pitchers down the stretch.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Logan Forsythe: Heads to bench Monday

Forsythe is not in the lineup Monday against the Phillies, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

Forsythe will head to the bench as Chase Utley draws the start at second base in his return to Citizens Bank Park. The 30-year-old is hitting just .205/.311/.359 in 39 at-bats in September.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Not in lineup Monday

Frazier is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

Frazier will head to the bench for a second straight contest as Sean Rodriguez draws another start at the keystone in his place. Frazier has played a slightly reduced role since returning from the disabled list earlier in the week, something that will likely continue over the final few weeks, given the expanded roster.

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Collects stolen base Sunday

Marte went 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Giants.

Marte's production has lagged over the last few games, but he's still sporting a solid .283/.377/.370 line in September while walking more times (seven) than he's struck out (six). Chris Owings (finger) is on track to return from the 60-day disabled list when first eligible Sept. 29, but Owings' long layoff coupled with Marte's success as a replacement in the middle infield should be enough to lock the 23-year-old Dominican into a starting role heading into the postseason.
