Wetherholt earned a spot on St. Louis' Opening Day roster by collecting a .386 on-base percentage with two home runs and two stolen bases during Grapefruit League action.

  • Will Wagner 2B | SD

The Padres placed Wagner (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

  • Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM

Mets' Vidal Brujan: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Mets designated Brujan for assignment Wednesday.

Brujan got on base at a .400 clip this spring, but that wasn't enough to win a reserve role in New York. The utility player has bounced around to multiple organization and has yet to establish himself at the big-league level, sporting a .199/.267/.276 batting line across parts of five seasons.

  • Scott Kingery 2B | CHC

Cubs' Scott Kingery: Claims utility job

The Cubs selected Kingery's contract from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday.

Kingery was able to emerge from spring training with a utility job after slashing a middling .204/.339/.327 over 59 plate appearances but making an impact on the basepaths (five steals in five attempts). The 31-year-old is unlikely to see extensive playing time, but he could prove to be a useful bench asset thanks to his speed and ability to play three infield spots and all three outfield positions.

  • JJ Wetherholt 2B | STL

Cardinals' JJ Wetherholt: Officially added to 40-man roster

The Cardinals selected Wetherholt's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

St. Louis freed up a spot on the 40-man roster for their top prospect by placing outfielder Lars Nootbaar (heels) on the 60-day injured list. Following a dazzling 2025 campaign that included stops at Memphis and Double-A Springfield, Wetherholt continued to impress throughout spring training, posting a .386 on-base percentage in the Grapefruit League while contributing two home runs and two stolen bases. Mauricio Dubon is expected to serve as Atlanta's everyday shortstop while Kim is on the shelf.
