  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Homers, doubles in win

Semien went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-0 win over Philadelphia.

Semien singled in the first, doubled and scored in the sixth and capped off his evening with a two-run homer. The 31-year-old's early-season troubles are no more as he's hitting .316/.391/.531 over his last 110 plate appearances. Additionally, his 16:12 K:BB during that span represents a significant improvement in plate discipline over the first month and a half of the season.

  • Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Return date pushed back

Hernandez (hip) will return later than previously expected due to a potential setback, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Hernandez looked to be nearly ready to return from a strained right hip and was due to begin a rehab assignment soon, but the Red Sox appear to have changed their plans. More details on the severity of his setback should emerge after further tests.

  • Nick Gonzales 3B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Shifts to 60-day IL

Double-A Altoona transferred Gonzales (heel) from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day iL on Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

When he was first placed on the IL on June 1, Gonzales was considered day-to-day with heel soreness, but the injury was evidently more serious than the Pirates initially believed. The 2020 first-round pick now looks like he'll be sidelined through the end of July, which is another blow to what had already been a somewhat down season for the 23-year-old. Prior to getting hurt, Gonzales was producing slightly better than the league-average player (113 wRC+, .341 wOBA) and had struck out in 32.8 percent of his plate appearances.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Hits bench against lefty

Kemp will sit Tuesday against lefty Marco Gonzales and the Mariners, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Kemp has been in the lineup against just one of the last nine lefties the Athletics have faced. Sheldon Neuse starts at second base in Kemp's absence.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Guardians' Ernie Clement: Back on bench Tuesday

Clement is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

Clement made two straight starts at third base to close out the Guardians' weekend series with the Dodgers, but he'll move back into his usual reserve role Tuesday with Jose Ramirez (thumb) ready to go after a brief absence. Along with Ramirez, designated hitter Franmil Reyes (hamstring) is back in action Tuesday, putting the Guardians lineup back at full strength. As a result, Clement is expected to see limited opportunities moving forward, with most of the starts he receives likely to come against left-handed pitching.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Guardians' Owen Miller: Odd man out Tuesday

Miller is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins.

With Jose Ramirez (thumb) back from a two-game absence and with Franmil Reyes (hamstring) returning from the injured list and serving as Cleveland's designated hitter, the Guardians are back to full strength among its group of position players. Manager Terry Francona could face some tougher lineup decisions going forward as a result, and for at least one game, the righty-hitting Miller finds himself as the odd man out with a right-hander (Joe Ryan) on the hill for the opposition. Miller, who had produced a .674 OPS while starting each of the past 10 games, won't necessarily sit against all righties moving forward, but his opportunities are expected to take a hit in any case.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

    Phillies' Bryson Stott: Sitting Tuesday

Stott will sit Tuesday against Texas, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Stott's playing time seems to have taken a slight hit since the Phillies called up Yairo Munoz last week. The team has faced four lefties since Munoz's arrival, including Tuesday's starter, Martin Perez, and Stott has sat against three of them. Munoz will make another start at the keystone here.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

    Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Resting Tuesday

Rojas will sit Tuesday against the Pirates.

Rojas sits after starting 12 straight games, a stretch in which he hit just .216/.2732/.333. Jake Hager will get the nod at the hot corner Tuesday.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Not starting Tuesday

McNeil (hamstring) will sit Tuesday against the Astros.

McNeil exited Monday's game against the Marlins with right hamstring tightness and will be on the bench for at least one game. He's considered merely day-to-day after undergoing an MRI, per Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News, but the Mets have an off day Thursday, so it wouldn't be all that surprising if McNeil were on the bench again Wednesday. That way, he could rest for three full days. Luis Guillorme starts at second base in McNeil's absence.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Re-enters lineup as DH

Marte (hamstring) will serve as Arizona's designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Tuesday's game in San Diego.

Though he'll be eased back into action in a non-defensive role, Marte demonstrated enough progress in his recovery from a left hamstring strain to put an end to his four-game absence. Arizona will likely see how Marte's hamstring responds to any baserunning he might do Tuesday before deciding whether he's fit to return to the field at his normal spot at second base in Wednesday's series finale.
