Rosario (hand) will bat second and play shortstop Friday against Toronto.

A bruised right hand scratched Rosario from the lineup Thursday against the Tigers, though he was able to appear off the bench. He'll be involved from the start Friday and will be looking to build on a hot streak which has seen him hit .375/.459/.500 over his last 10 games.

Marte isn't starting Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Marte will get a breather after he went 4-for-13 with two runs, an RBI and a walk across the last three games. Tim Locastro will start in center field and bat eighth.

Lopez will sit for the second straight game Friday against the Twins.

Lopez's .609 OPS this season actually represents the best mark of his three-year career, so it's no surprise to see him lose playing time. Adalberto Mondesi's return from an oblique injury Tuesday dealt the first blow to Lopez's starting chances, while Hunter Dozier's return from a concussion Friday could send him to the bench on a regular basis. Dozier starts in right field Friday, keeping Whit Merrifield at second base and Lopez on the bench.

Mendick started at shortstop in place of Tim Anderson (thumb) and went 1-for-4 in a 5-1 win over the Orioles.

Anderson was out of the lineup for a second consecutive day, but manager Tony La Russa expects him back Friday. Mendick filled in for Anderson both days, going 2-for-8 from the nine hole.

Lowe went 0-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two stolen bases Thursday against the Royals.

Lowe had an unconventional line, but he was still productive. He reached base twice, and on each occasion he stole second base and came around to score. Despite the productive outing, Lowe has failed to record a home run or drive in a run in his last six appearances. For the season, he's hitting .196/.320/.393 across 200 plate appearances.

Semien went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Semien homered off Domingo German with two outs in the third inning to start the scoring Thursday. It was his 13th long ball of the season, trailing only Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s 16 for Toronto. The 30-year-old is providing high-end power and speed, leading the team with eight steals in addition to being second in homers. He is slashing .286/.353/.546 in 216 plate appearances.

Lux isn't starting Thursday's game against the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Lux will get a breather after he went 0-for-3 with a walk Wednesday. Chris Taylor will start at shortstop while Albert Pujols enters the lineup at first base.

India is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

India will take a seat for the nightcap after he went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base earlier in the day, when the Nationals won 5-3 in the resumption of Wednesday's suspended game. Max Schrock will substitute in for India at second base.

Espinal isn't in the lineup for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Espinal will be out of the lineup for a second straight game after he went 0-for-10 with an RBI, a walk and two strikeouts across his last three appearances. Joe Panik will start at third base and bat eighth.

Miller went 2-for-3 with a double in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Detroit.

Offense was at a premium Wednesday, with Miller recording half of Cleveland's four hits and the only one of the team's knocks to go for extra bases. It was Miller's first multi-hit game. The 24-year-old has taken on a bit of a utility role since he was called up -- that kind of usage should lead to fairly consistent playing time if he hits well.
