Bostick was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The Pirates needed to open up a spot on the 40-man for Buddy Boshers, who was claimed off waivers from the Astros on Tuesday, and Bostick was the roster casualty. The 25-year-old hit a respectable .295/.351/.436 across 78 games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He'll take a spin through waivers to determine where he lands.

Albies is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals.

Albies will head to the bench for the second half of Tuesday's twin bill after going 2-for-4 with a run scored in Game 1. Charlie Culberson will start at the keystone and hit second in his stead.

Drury hit the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left hand Tuesday.

It's more bad luck for Drury, who missed an extended period of time earlier in the season with impaired vision and migraines while with the Yankees. The severity of this issue and the possible recovery timeline are not yet clear. Richard Urena was called up to take his place on the roster.

Barreto was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Barreto will head back to the minors with Chad Pinder (elbow) back from the disabled list. The 22-year-old has shown power in his series of short stints with the Athletics this season, hitting four homers in 63 plate appearances, but his plate discipline is worrisome, as he's striking out 39.7 percent of the time and has walked just once.

Kemp is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Kemp will head to the bench against left-hander Madison Bumgarner after starting seven of the team's last eight games in the outfield. The Astros will deploy an outfield consisting of Marwin Gonzalez, Jake Marisnick and Josh Reddick (from left to right) in his absence.

Urias went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and a walk Monday in Triple-A El Paso's 10-3 win over Round Rock.

After a downturn in productivity throughout July, Urias' all-fields contact skills have resurfaced through El Paso's first six games of the month. In those contests, the second baseman has gone 10-for-23 with five extra-base knocks, lifting his season average and on-base percentage to .275 and .386, respectively. Since Urias currently lacks a spot on the Padres' 40-man roster, a second-half promotion isn't necessarily a given, though Dennis Lin of The Athletic San Diego reports that the 21-year-old is expected to hit the big leagues by mid-September.

McNeil went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Monday's win over the Reds.

The 26-year-old has done nothing but hit at every level this season including the majors, and McNeil now boasts a .364/.462/.606 slash line with two homers in his first 12 big-league games. He'll cool down eventually, but the previously unheralded 12th-round pick (2013) has seemingly put himself in the Mets' future plans.

The Reds intend to add Herrera to the mix of their outfielders, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports. "I want to get Herrera as much work as we can taking balls out there during batting practice," interim manager Jim Riggleman said Monday. "We're trying to find a right-handed complement to Mason [Williams]."

This reverses course from the Reds' stance from two weeks ago, but much has changed since then. Scott Schebler (shoulder) had a setback in his rehab, Jesse Winker (shoulder) is out for the season, and Adam Duvall has been traded. Herrera has had a hard time getting playing time, even in a pinch-hitting capacity. He has only played in three of the Reds' last nine games, compiling eight at-bats.

Astros team doctors are "very pleased" with Altuve's progress from a right knee injury, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve returned to Houston to visit with the team's medical staff Monday. "We have a really good plan in place," manager A.J. Hinch said. "He is making the progress that the doctors are happy with. We'll try to initiate more baseball stuff this weekend." If he begins baseball activities this weekend, a return to the active roster could happen as soon as next week. Altuve has been on the disabled list since July 26 with soreness in the knee.

Marte is not starting Monday against the Phillies.

Marte is hitting .358/.452/.528 over 16 games since the All-Star break. Daniel Descalso will get the start at second base in his place Monday.
