Manager Brian Snitker said that Albies, who was promoted from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, would serve as the Braves' primary second baseman, Mark Bowman of MLB.com. He'll bat seventh in his major-league debut Tuesday against the Dodgers.

With a .768 OPS, Brandon Phillips has been solid as the Braves' everyday second baseman through the first four months of the season, but since he's a 36-year-old on a rebuilding squad, it was always expected that he'd eventually give way to Albies, the organization's top middle-infield prospect. Albies earned his promotion to the big leagues by slashing .285/.330/.440 with a 21-for-23 stolen-base success rate at Gwinnett, and should get every opportunity over the final two months of the season to establish himself as a long-term member of the Braves' core. There will likely be some growing pains as he adjusts to the jump in the quality of competition, but Albies' game-breaking speed and contact-hitting skills will at the very least make him an intriguing speculative pickup.

Rosario was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

As anticipated, the top prospect will head to the majors to begin his tenure as the Mets' everyday shortstop. Rosario impressed during his first full season in Triple-A, slashing .328/.367/.466 with 19 stolen bases., and he'll look to carry that success into the big leagues. To make room for him on the active roster, Matt Reynolds was sent back to Las Vegas.

Giavotella was designated for assignment Tuesday.

The Orioles will drop Giavotella from the 40-man roster to make room for Tim Beckham, who was acquired from the Rays prior to Monday's deadline. With Beckham and Jonathan Schoop presumably locked in as the Orioles' starting middle infielders for the foreseeable future and Ruben Tejada transitioning to a utility role, Giavotella was rendered redundant in Baltimore. He'll likely be outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk if he clears waivers in the coming days.

In the 20-year-old's first season at the Triple-A level, he slashed .285/.330/.440 while hitting a career-high nine home runs and swiping 21 bases. Albies will now head to the major leagues to get his first taste of the highest level, and although he may not assume regular duties immediately upon his arrival in Atlanta, he is a major building block for the franchise and should see his fair share of reps at both second base and shortstop over the final two months of the season.

Semien went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and two runs in Monday's 8-5 win over the Giants.

The slugging shortstop's sixth-inning blast erased a 3-2 deficit in spectacular fashion and gave the Athletics a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Semien took some time to hit his stride after returning from a long layoff due to a wrist injury, but he finished July by slashing .360/.418/.560 over 55 plate appearances in 12 games, a stretch during which he also posted a .416 wOBA.

Rosario will be called up to the big leagues ahead of Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Tyler Kepner of The New York Times reports.

The Mets' front office has been peppered with questions as to when their highly touted prospect would finally get brought up to the majors, and as was speculated last week, Rosario will emerge with the Mets on Tuesday. Franklin cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

No club wanted to take on Franklin's salary, so he'll serve as infield and outfield depth at the club's top minors level. He's mustered a .179/.269/.293 line with two home runs over 119 major-league plate appearances for the Halos and the Brewers.

Marte (personal) was placed on the bereavement list Monday.

As expected, Marte will head away from the team for up to three days to attend to the death of his mother. A corresponding move is expected to be made Tuesday.

Solarte (oblique) was activated from the 10-day disabled list and is starting at third base and batting fourth during Sunday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Solarte had been sidelined since June 21 with an oblique strain but is ready to make his long-awaited return to the Padres' lineup. He'll slot into the cleanup spot and look to build upon his .268 average and 10 home runs as we head into the final two months of the regular season.
