Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Plays in extended spring game

Marte (hamstring) hit a pair of home runs and played three innings in the field in an extended spring training game Saturday, Kellan Olson of Arizona Sports reports.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo was enthused by Marte's progress in his rehab and hasn't ruled out the second baseman returning for the second series of a two-city road trip next week. The Diamondbacks begin a series Tuesday against the Mets then move on to Philadelphia for the weekend. Alternatively, Marte could remain back in Arizona and rejoin the team for a seven-game homestand beginning May 5. Lovullo kicked around the idea of easing Marte back into the lineup as a designated hitter against lefties only, as the organization is keenly aware of Marte's history of hamstring issues.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Registers steal Saturday

Albies went 2-for-5 with one RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-7 extra-inning win over Arizona.

Albies has hit safely in his last four games, but this was his first multi-hit effort since April 18 versus Minnesota. The second baseman also picked up his third steal of the season and his first since he swiped a bag in back-to-back contests April 12 and 13 versus the Rays. Albies is up to .240/.301/.394 slash line with four home runs, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and four doubles over 26 games.

  • Adael Amador SS | COL

Rockies' Adael Amador: Homer, steal in loss

Amador went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, a steal and two RBI in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Cincinnati.

The 22-year-old made his third consecutive start at second base and popped his first MLB homer off Hunter Greene in the fifth inning. Amador also pilfered his first bag of the season earlier in the game. The switch hitter should continue to get regular playing time with the Rockies as long as Ezequiel Tovar (hip) remains on the injured list.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Traded to Colorado

The Rangers traded Trejo to the Rockies on Saturday for cash considerations, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Trejo, who has spent the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Round Rock, will head to the Rockies and is expected to have his contract selected ahead of Sunday's game against the Reds. It's a return to Colorado for Trejo, who played for the Rockies from 2020 to 2024 before signing a minor-league deal with the Rangers in December. He was slashing .211/.247/.352 with one stolen base and 13 RBI in 77 plate appearances in Triple-A this year.

  • Astros' Brendan Rodgers: Idle Saturday

Rodgers is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Kansas City.

Rodgers will grab a seat on the bench for the third time in as many games after going 3-for-21 with four RBI and nine strikeouts over his last seven games. Mauricio Dubon will pick up a start at second base and bat ninth while Rodgers sits.

  • Coco Montes 2B | TB

Rays' Coco Montes: Moved to Durham

The Rays optioned Montes to Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Montes will end up without a spot on the active roster now that the Rays have brought in Travis Jankowski to help relieve their depleted outfield unit. The 28-year-old Montes owns a .489 OPS through 51 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, but he still could return to Tampa Bay if the Rays' bench depth is tested even further.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Taking Saturday off vs. LHP

Massey isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Houston.

Massey and his career .623 OPS against southpaws will take a seat Saturday against Framber Valdez. Maikel Garcia will start at second base.

  • Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Late scratch Saturday

Fitzgerald was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Rangers due to a chest contusion, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Fitzgerald may have injured his chest while diving over the side wall to catch a foul ball Friday. He'll take a day to recover Saturday; meanwhile, Christian Koss will fill in at second base and bat eighth.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | MIN

    Twins' Edouard Julien: Sitting Saturday

Julien isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

Julien will get a breather Saturday after drawing four walks and scoring three runs in the series opener. Brooks Lee will shift to second base, allowing Jonah Bride to start at third base and bat sixth.

  • Kyren Paris SS | LAA

Angels' Kyren Paris: Sitting second straight

Paris isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Paris has cooled off tremendously after a hot start to the season, going 0-for-21 with 12 strikeouts over his last eight games. He'll take a seat for the second game in a row Saturday while Tim Anderson starts at second base and bats ninth.
