  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Exiting lineup Monday

Gonzales is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Gonzales will head to the bench as the Pirates make room in the lineup at second base for prospect Nick Yorke, who was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis. Though the Pirates will likely give Yorke a look in a near-everyday role over the final two weeks of the season, he has experience at shortstop, third base and all three outfield spots, so he won't necessarily bump Gonzales out of the everyday lineup. Gonzales had started in all but two of the Pirates' previous 19 games following his return from the injured list Aug. 26, slashing .300/.347/.343 during that stretch.

  • Nick Yorke 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Yorke: Call-up official, will start Monday

The Pirates selected Yorke's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of Monday's game against the Cardinals. He'll start at second base and bat seventh in the series opener.

Pittsburgh optioned infielder Alika Williams to Triple-A to clear a spot on the active roster for Yorke, who could be in store for a near-everyday role while getting his first taste of the big leagues over the final two weeks of the season. After being acquired from the Red Sox at the trade deadline, Yorke slashed .359/.438/.516 with two home runs and eight stolen bases in 176 plate appearances at Indianapolis to earn his way to the majors. Yorke has spent most of his minor-league career at second base, but he also picked up starts at shortstop and third base along with all three outfield spots this season and could end up filling a super-utility role for the Pirates.

  • Brandon Drury 1B | CHW

Angels' Brandon Drury: Out again Monday

Drury (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest versus the White Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

It's the fourth straight start he's missed due to lingering left hamstring tightness. Charles Leblanc will play second base for the Angels while Drury continues to rest up.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Back in lineup

Rodgers (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting fifth for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Rodgers was not in the starting lineup for the Rockies' last two games due to right hamstring tightness, but he did pinch hit for Aaron Schunk in the seventh inning of Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Cubs. Rodgers has slashed .283/.325/.455 with seven home runs and 22 RBI over 200 plate appearances since the All-Star break.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: Sent back to minors

The Pirates optioned Williams from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.

He'll move off the 28-man active roster as the Pirates clear a spot for infielder Nick Yorke, whose contract was selected from Triple-A. Williams is a career .202/.257/.271 hitter over parts of two seasons at the major-league level and hadn't seen any game action for the Pirates in a week.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Cleared for rehab assignment

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker confirmed Monday that Albies (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The plan is for Albies to play for Gwinnett on Tuesday and Wednesday before rejoining Atlanta's active roster Friday in Miami, assuming all goes well. Albies has been sidelined since late July with a fractured left wrist.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Getting day off versus lefty

Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The lefty-hitting Garcia will take a seat for the series opener while southpaw Sean Manaea toes the rubber for the Mets. Ildemaro Vargas will enter the lineup as a replacement for Garcia, occupying third base while Jose Tena shifts over to the keystone.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Out against left-hander

Lux is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Atlanta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Left-hander Max Fried is on the bump for Atlanta, so the left-handed-hitting Lux will begin the game on the bench. Enrique Hernandez will start at second base for the Dodgers in the series finale.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Aiming to return this weekend

Albies (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment Tuesday and return from the 10-day injured list for Atlanta's series in Miami this weekend, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

At last check, Albies was still struggling to swing the bat from the left side of the plate due to soreness in his fractured left wrist. It's not clear whether the switch hitter has progressed in that regard or is considering returning only as a right-handed hitter. Albies will be the everyday second baseman when he returns, pushing Whit Merrifield to third base, left field or a bench role.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | KC

Royals' Adam Frazier: Gaining foothold in lineup

Frazier will start at third base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Tigers.

Frazier will remain in the lineup for a fifth consecutive game, with the versatile 32-year-old having picked up two starts at third base and right field and one at designated hitter during that stretch. He's mustered just two hits in 12 at-bats with one walk over the previous four contests, so Frazier's run as an everyday player could soon come to an end if he fails to get going at the dish.
