  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Another three hits Saturday

Gelof went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a walk in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

Gelof continued terrorizing White Sox pitching in the narrow loss, following up a 2-for-4 night that had included an RBI double in Friday's series opener. Gelof now has hit safely in nine of the last 10 games and has multi-hit efforts in four of the last six contests, finally displaying some of the offensive potential he'd shown during his rookie 2023 campaign following a mostly difficult first five months of this season.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Adds steal in win

Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Rays.

Gimenez didn't show much speed through July, but he's now logged 13 thefts on 15 attempts across 41 games since the start of August. The second baseman is up to 29 steals on the year, one shy of matching his career high from last year. He's maintained a .253/.302/.338 slash line with eight home runs, 59 RBI, 62 runs scored, 20 doubles and one triple over 141 contests.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Up to 42 steals

Turang went 2-for-5 with a double, a walk, one RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 15-8 win over the Diamondbacks.

Turang is up to 42 steals this year, though he's recorded a modest three thefts while going 12-for-44 (.273) over 12 games in September. The second baseman has had limited opportunities at leadoff lately, with Jackson Chourio more frequently in that spot.

  • Braves' Whit Merrifield: Three hits in Saturday's win

Merrifield went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 10-1 win over the Dodgers.

Merrifield has gone 5-for-8 over the first two games of this weekend's series versus the Dodgers. He missed the previous week due to a left foot fracture, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Merrifield cede some playing time to Cavan Biggio for regular rest. For the season, Merrifield has a .229/.321/.327 slash line four home runs, 16 stolen bases, nine doubles, three triples, 15 RBI and 43 runs scored over 89 contests between Atlanta and Philadelphia.

  • Angels' Michael Stefanic: Sitting out Saturday

Stefanic (calf) isn't in the Angels' lineup for Saturday's game against Houston, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Stefanic made an early exit from Friday's game with what was labeled as minor tightness in his right calf, but it seems to be serious enough to warrant sitting him down Saturday. Jack Lopez will get the starting nod at second base instead and bat ninth.

  • Brandon Drury 1B | CHW

Angels' Brandon Drury: Remaining out Saturday

Drury (hamstring) isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Astros, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Drury will miss a second consecutive start Saturday after exiting Wednesday's contest with a sore left hamstring. With Michael Stefanic (calf) also nursing an injury, Jack Lopez will pick up a start at second base and bat ninth.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Scratched Saturday

Rodgers was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's game versus the Cubs.

The Rockies have not yet provided a reason for removing Rodgers from the starting nine, but more information should come in the near future. In the meantime, Aaron Schunk will step in to start at second base while batting ninth.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Resting versus southpaw

Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against Atlanta.

Left-hander Chris Sale will toe the rubber for Atlanta on Saturday, meaning the lefty-hitting Lux will ride the pine to begin the game. Enrique Hernandez will fill in at second base and bat ninth.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Absent from Saturday's lineup

Holliday is not starting Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Holliday has started each of Baltimore's last three games at second base, though he'll sit after collecting only two hits in his last 25 at-bats. Livan Soto will take over at the keystone and hit eighth.

  • Rays' Christopher Morel: Sitting Saturday

Morel (Achilles) is not in Saturday's lineup against Cleveland.

Morel was forced to exit Friday's game after suffering a leg injury while running the bases. The injury isn't believed to be serious, but Morel will get at least one more day to rest.
