  • Zach Remillard 2B | CHW

White Sox's Zach Remillard: Loses 40-man roster spot

The White Sox designated Remillard for assignment Tuesday.

The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Duke Ellis. It's the third time since January that Remillard has been designated for assignment. He cleared waivers and stuck around the other two times and will probably do so again.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Taking seat Tuesday

Garcia is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia started the previous four games but will sit Tuesday as lefty David Peterson takes the mound for the Mets. Ildemaro Vargas will start at the keystone and bat fifth.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Won't face lefty

McNeil is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

The lefty-hitting McNeil will once again give way to Jose Iglesias at second base with a left-handed pitcher (DJ Herz) on the mound for the opposition. Iglesias will bat eighth in place of McNeil, who should continue to see the bulk of the playing time at the keystone when the Mets oppose right-handers.

  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Valdez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

The 25-year-old is expected to serve as Boston's primary second baseman against right-handing pitching due to Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) and Romy Gonzalez (hamstring) being sidelined, but Valdez will sit Tuesday as lefty Max Fried takes the mound for Atlanta.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | LAA

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Swipes 13th bag

Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a run and a stolen base in a 2-1 victory versus the Padres on Monday.

Offense in the contest was scarce, so Rengifo's role in producing the Angels' first run was especially valuable. He singled with one out in the fourth inning and stole second base before eventually crossing the plate on a Willie Calhoun single. Rengifo missed some time in May due to an illness, but he hasn't slowed down since returning, slashing .313/.353/.484 with two homers, six RBI, 10 runs and four stolen bases in 16 contests. The infielder leads the team and is tied for 12th in the majors with 13 thefts on the campaign.

  • Jose Rodriguez 2B | PHI

Phillies' Jose Rodriguez: Suspended for one year

Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Rodriguez has received a one-year suspension for violating the league's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

The investigation determined that Rodriguez bet a total of $749.09 on baseball during a time he was assigned to the White Sox's Double-A affiliate in Birmingham. He didn't appear in any of the games on which he wagered, and MLB determined the outcomes of the contests weren't compromised in any fashion. Rodriguez was traded to the Phillies in April and has played exclusively at Double-A Reading this season, slashing .265/.329/.422 over 164 plate appearances.

  • Tucupita Marcano: Lifetime ban for sports betting

Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Marcano has been issued a lifetime ban for violating the league's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

MLB's investigation found that Marcano bet more than $150,000 on baseball, with $87,319 being in MLB-related wagers. Marcano didn't play in any of the games he bet on, and the league has determined the outcomes of the games in which he placed bets weren't compromised in any way. The 24-year-old had been on the Padres' 10-day injured list while completing a recovery from ACL surgery.

  • Mets' Jose Iglesias: Three hits in Monday's win

Iglesias went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in Monday's 8-7 win over the Nationals.

Getting the start at second base and batting eighth with left-hander MacKenzie Gore on the mound for the Nats, Iglesias produced his first three-hit performance since August 2022 -- and that game was in Coors Field. The 34-year-old was added to the roster to provide infield depth, but he's begun his Mets tenure by going 5-for-11 with a stolen base. With Jeff McNeil stumbling to a career-worst .227/.296/.320 slash line and 103.9 mile-per-hour max exit velocity so far, the door could be open for Iglesias to see more playing time than expected at the keystone, and potentially even take over the starting job.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers twice in loss

Gorman went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in a 7-4 loss to the Astros on Monday.

Gorman hit solo home runs off Justin Verlander in the first and fifth innings and added a walk in the third. Gorman has been on an absolute binge in his past 10 games, tallying five multi-hit efforts, six home runs and 12 RBI since May 21. On the season, Gorman is now slashing .230/.318/.494 and leads all second basemen in home runs with 13.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Homers in loss

Semien went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a 2-1 loss to the Tigers on Monday.

Semien opened the scoring with a leadoff homer off Tarik Skubal and added a single and a walk in the third and fifth innings. The homer was Semien's first since May 17, and he has now reached base in 10 of his 14 June plate appearances. On the season, Semien is slashing .263/.322/.445 with 10 homers, 35 RBI, and 43 runs scored in 270 plate appearances.
