DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Taking seat Friday
LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.
LeMahieu has stumbled to a .499 OPS in 154 plate appearances this season and is at risk of losing more playing time if his bat doesn't perk up. Oswaldo Cabrera will bat ninth and play third base Friday.

Josh H. Smith 2B | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Sitting out Friday
Smith is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Toronto.
The left-handed hitting Smith will get the day off as the Blue Jays send southpaw Yusei Kikuchi to the hill. Righty-hitting Jonathan Ornelas will handle third base duties.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Reinstated from injured list
The Twins activated Lewis (groin) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
The 25-year-old landed on the shelf with an adductor strain in early July, but he's ready to rejoin the Twins after a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Lewis has been dominant at the plate when available this year with 10 homers and a 1.039 OPS, but injuries have limited him to just 24 games.

Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU
Rays' Isaac Paredes: Plates four in rout
Paredes went 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, four RBI and two runs during Thursday's 13-0 win over the Blue Jays.
Paredes had gone hitless in six of his previous seven starts but snapped out of the cold spell with Thursday's multi-hit performance. His four RBI marked a season high, bringing his 2024 total to 55. Through 416 plate appearances, Paredes is slashing .250/.353/.444 with 16 home runs.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Athletics' Abraham Toro: Idle Thursday
Toro isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Thursday's game versus the Angels.
The switch-hitting Toro boasts a .783 OPS in 73 plate appearances against left-handers this season, but he will take a seat Thursday with southpaw Kenny Rosenberg on the mound. While Toro rests, Brett Harris will field the hot corner and bat eighth.

Gio Urshela 3B | MIN
Tigers' Gio Urshela: Moving to bench Thursday
Urshela is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.
Urshela will head to the bench for the first time since July 13, ending his streak of seven consecutive starts. Bligh Madris will step in for Urshela at first base.

Ramon Urias 3B | STL
Orioles' Ramon Urias: Out of Thursday's lineup
Urias is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.
Jordan Westburg will cover third base Thursday while Connor Norby plays second base. Urias has now been in the lineup for just one of Baltimore's last four contests, though a minor neck injury is at least partly to blame for that.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Serves as DH
Devers started at designated hitter and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 20-7 loss to Colorado.
Devers, who was initially penciled in at third base, was moved to DH as a precaution after he survived a shoulder-injury scare Tuesday. He stayed in Tuesday's game following the incident and looked good swinging the bat Wednesday. With a team day off Thursday, Devers could return to the field for Friday's series opener at Fenway Park against the Yankees.
