  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Activated from Triple-A IL

Triple-A Durham activated Caminero (quadricep0 from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Caminero has been out since late May with a Grade 2 left quad strain but is ready to rejoin Durham's active roster after slugging three home runs in six rehab games with the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. The top prospect had slashed .261/.333/.478 with eight home runs over 153 plate appearances with Durham this season before landing on the IL. He could push for a promotion to the majors later this season, though probably not until after the trade deadline.

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Serves as DH in rehab game

Toro (hamstring) slotted in at designated hitter Thursday during a rehab game in the Arizona Complex League, going 0-for-1 with two walks.

Toro took a full game's worth of plate appearances in the seven-inning contest while suiting up on back-to-back days for the first time on his rehab assignment. The 27-year-old will likely bump up to a higher affiliate as soon as Friday when minor-league play resumes following the All-Star-break.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

White Sox's Nick Senzel: Likely to see bulk of starts at 2B

Senzel is in line to serve as the White Sox's primary second baseman for the second half of the season, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Senzel hasn't played second base at all in 2024 and has just 16 games (seven starts) under his belt at the position in the majors. However, the keystone is reportedly where the White Sox intend to use him most days after signing him to a one-year contract following his release from the Nationals. Senzel's positional situation should ultimately be fluid, and he's not guaranteed regular playing time if he doesn't perform.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Slugs grand slam in rehab game

Toro (hamstring) went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in the ACL Athletics' win over the ACL Angels on Wednesday.

The recovering veteran also logged a full workload at second base in the seven-inning contest, which is an encouraging development in his second rehab game. The bases-loaded blast was a bonus against a much lower caliber of competition than Toro normally faces, and it's likely he's bumped up to a higher affiliate as soon as post-All-Star-break play resumes Friday.

  • Athletics' Armando Alvarez: Sent back to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Alvarez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old received his first big-league call-up June 22 and went on to appear in seven games with the Athletics prior to the All-Star break, batting .261 with a stolen base, six runs and one RBI. The utility player will get the chance to see more consistent playing time as he heads back to Las Vegas. The Athletics will announce a replacement for Alvarez on the 26-man active roster shortly before their next game Friday versus the Angels.

  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | TOR

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Sent down to minors

The White Sox optioned Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Sosa had a stretch recently with five straight multi-hit games, but he finished the first half going just 2-for-22 across his last six contests and has managed just a .624 OPS on the season. Nick Senzel will take Sosa's spot on the roster and could also replace him as the White Sox's everyday third baseman.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Gets bumped off 40-man roster

The White Sox designated Mendick for assignment Wednesday.

Mendick will give up his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to third baseman Nick Senzel, whom the White Sox signed to a one-year contract Wednesday. While operating largely as a short-side platoon player in the infield for the White Sox this season, Mendick slashed .197/.243/.318 with three home runs and six stolen bases over 141 plate appearances.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

White Sox's Nick Senzel: Lands with White Sox

Senzel agreed to a one-year, major-league contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Senzel spent most of the first half of the campaign with Washington, slashing .209/.303/.359 with seven home runs, 18 RBI, 25 runs and one stolen base before he was designated for assignment July 6 and later released. He played exclusively at third base with the Nationals but had previously spent the majority of his big-league time in the outfield.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Plays defense in rehab debut

Toro (hamstring) started at third base and played seven innings in the ACL Athletics' loss to the ACL Rangers on Monday, going 1-for-3.

It was a successful start to Toro's rehab assignment given he was able to play almost a full game on defense. The veteran is due to log several games in the minors before activation is considered, so a return immediately at the start of the second half of the season Friday may not be realistic.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Ready for rehab assignment

The Athletics sent Toro (hamstring) to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Monday to begin a rehab assignment.

Toro has been sidelined for nearly a month with a right hamstring strain but is finally ready for game action. He shouldn't require more than a few rehab games before returning to the Athletics' active roster. Prior to getting hurt, Toro was serving as Oakland's everyday third baseman and leadoff hitter.
