  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Socks 15th homer

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a solo home run in Friday's 7-3 win over the Red Sox.

He capped a five-homer eruption from the Blue Jays offense with a ninth-inning shot off Richard Bleier. Chapman's white-hot start to the season has faded, but he's remained reasonably productive -- in 20 games since the All-Star break, he's slashing .243/.384/.457 with three of his 15 homers on the season.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

    Rays' Isaac Paredes: Stays hot

Paredes went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored Friday against the Tigers.

Paredes collected his third multi-hit game in his last six starts. In that same span, he's also walked five times while tallying three homers, six RBI and five runs scored. Paredes has been a mainstay in the lineup this season -- deservedly so with his performance -- though he could begin to lose occasional starts due to the promotion of Curtis Mead.

  • Curtis Mead 3B | WAS

Rays' Curtis Mead: Collects first major-league hit

Mead made his big-league debut in Friday's 8-0 win over the Tigers. He singled in his lone at-bat.

Recalled earlier in the day, Mead entered the game as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning -- perhaps not a dream scenario for a debut, but he now has his first hit out of the way and won't have that pressure on him when he makes his first career start. One of the top prospects in the Rays organization, Mead slashed .291/.379/.453 with three homers and three steals in 46 games for Triple-A Durham this season.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Angels' Mike Moustakas: Smacks three-run homer

Moustakas went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 9-7 loss to the Mariners.

Moustakas had gone 11 games without a homer, though he hit a productive .318 (14-for-44) with four doubles in that span. The homer was his 10th of the year, and the infielder has reached double digits for the first time since 2019. He's slashing .270/.336/.451 with 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and 11 doubles over 76 contests between the Rockies and the Angels this season, but his power production has actually increased since leaving Coors Field -- six of his 10 long balls have come in his 29 games as an Angel. Moustakas should continue to see a strong-side platoon role at a minimum at third base.

  • Joe Perez 3B | PIT

Astros' Joe Perez: Outrighted to Triple-A

Perez was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Perez was designated for assignment by the Astros on Tuesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 23-year-old has spent the large majority of this season at the Triple-A level and is slashing .255/.328/.399 with 10 homers and three steals through 87 games.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Placed on 10-day IL

Cleveland placed Freeman on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 2, with right shoulder soreness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

There's no exact diagnosis yet, but Freeman will be sidelined until at least next weekend. Jose Tena is joining the Guardians on Friday to provide additional middle infield depth behind Andres Gimenez, Brayan Rocchio and Gabriel Arias.

  • Curtis Mead 3B | WAS

Rays' Curtis Mead: Getting call to majors

Mead was recalled Friday from Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mead missed all of May and most of June because of a wrist injury, but the 22-year-old top infield prospect had slashed .355/.460/.438 in 113 plate appearances since returning to Durham's active roster. He doesn't offer a ton of immediate counting-stat upside, but Mead is a very polished hitter for his age with the capability to play either third base or second base for the Rays. He could draw starts against lefties in a platoon with Brandon Lowe in his first stint in the majors.

  • Tyler Freeman 3B | COL

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Tending to sore shoulder

Freeman wasn't available for Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Astros due to a sore right shoulder, MLB.com reports.

Freeman picked up the injury in Tuesday's 2-0 loss, when his shoulder acted up as he grounded out in the fourth inning. He stayed in the game for the bottom of the fourth before being replaced by Andres Gimenez in the field in the next inning. Follow-up exams on Freeman reportedly were encouraging, so he could be ready to play at some point during this weekend's series with the White Sox. The Guardians have an opening at shortstop after trading away Amed Rosario last week, but the team has thus far favored Gabriel Arias as the primary option at the position, and top prospect Brayan Rocchio was just called up Wednesday.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Remains productive Thursday

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-3 win against the Angels on Thursday.

The game was a scoreless tie through five frames before Suarez swatted a solo homer to right field in the sixth. The long ball was his second in three days and extended his streak of games with at least one RBI to nine. Over that span, Suarez is batting .324 (12-for-37) with two homers and 12 RBI.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: Recalled from Triple-A

Oakland recalled Bride from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday.

Bride will get another shot in the bigs as the Athletics play out the string on a predictably ugly 2023 season. The 27-year-old has slashed just .189/.313/.208 with zero homers and zero steals in 22 games (65 plate appearances) this summer at the MLB level.
