Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Idle Saturday
Machado isn't in the Padres' lineup Saturday against the White Sox.
Despite going 11-for-22 with two homers and seven RBI over his last five games, Machado will sit down for the penultimate game of the season Saturday. Matthew Batten will start at third base, and Juan Soto will operate as the DH while Jurickson Profar starts in left field.

Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Out of lineup
McMahon will be on the bench for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.
McMahon took a slight step back at the plate this season, with his strikeout rate spiking to 31.5 percent while his wRC+ dipped to 89. With the boost from Coors Field, however, that still adds up to a respectable .241/.324/.434 slash line with 23 homers. He'll hit the bench for the fourth time in seven games, with Alan Trejo starting at third base.

Alec Bohm 3B | PHI
Phillies' Alec Bohm: Hits bench for afternoon game
Bohm will sit for the afternoon portion of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets.
Expect the Phillies to give most of their regulars a rest in one of Saturday's two games, as the team will finish fourth in the National League regardless of how the weekend's games play out. Weston Wilson was recalled Saturday and will get the start at the hot corner.
-
Rodolfo Castro 2B | PHI
Phillies' Rodolfo Castro: Optioned to rookie ball
The Phillies optioned Castro to the Florida Complex League on Saturday.
Since joining the Phillies at the trade deadline, Castro has slashed just .100/.156/.100 across 32 plate appearances over 14 games. His poor performance will cost him his spot on Philadelphia's bench, and the team will bring up Weston Wilson from Triple-A to replace Castro.

Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN
Reds' Noelvi Marte: Smacks second homer in blowout win
Marte went 2-for-5 with a solo home run -- his second of the season -- and an additional RBI in Friday's 19-2 win over St. Louis.
Marte slugged one of six Reds home runs on the night, one shy of matching the franchise single-game record. Cincinnati was able to keep its faint hopes for a wild-card spot alive with the win, and Marte has been an integral contributor to the team's postseason push. The 21-year-old rookie has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 starts and is slashing .357/.400/.471 in September.

Carter Kieboom 3B | CLE
Nationals' Carter Kieboom: Smacks three-run homer
Kieboom went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Friday's 10-6 win over Atlanta.
Kieboom's long ball -- his fourth of the campaign -- was one of five home runs on the night for the Nationals, tying a season high for the club. The 26-year-old has heated up with a .762 OPS over his last 10 games, but he's still been stuck in a timeshare at third base with Ildemaro Vargas as the season winds down.
-
Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Jace Peterson: Logs fourth steal
Peterson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.
Peterson has just four steals this season, two of which have come over his last three games. He's seen spotty playing time in September, going 8-for-39 (.205) with four walks over 16 contests this month. The third baseman is slashing .213/.304/.310 with six home runs, 37 RBI, 35 runs scored, 10 doubles and four triples over 133 games between Arizona and Oakland this season.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Gets breather Friday
Muncy isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Friday against the Giants, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
He'll get a day off after batting .240 (6-for-25) with zero extra-base hits, three RBI and four runs scored over his last six games. Enrique Hernandez will replace Muncy at the hot corner and bat seventh.
