  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Posts three-hit day

Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Hernandez posted his second three-hit game this month. He came up big in the 10th with a leadoff double to tie the game before eventually coming around to score the winning run. Over his last nine games, Hernandez is slashing .333/.405/.545 with seven RBI, six runs and a 4:4 BB:K. He's reached base safely in all but one game over that span. For the year, the 32-year-old is slashing .214/.281/.338 with seven homers, 26 RBI, 30 runs and a 25:63 BB:K in 292 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Donovan Solano: Delivers homer off bench

Solano went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 7-6 loss to Miami.

Pinch hitting for Jake Cronenworth with one out in the eighth inning, Solano came up clutch and launched a two-run homer off Andrew Nardi to bring the Padres within one run. The long ball was Solano's fifth of the year -- a milestone he had reached just twice in his first 10 MLB seasons. In 212 plate appearances, Solano is slashing .313/.363/.436.

  • Jake Burger 3B | MIA

Marlins' Jake Burger: Stays hot at plate

Burger went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored during Sunday's 7-6 win over the Padres.

Burger generated multiple hits for the fourth time in five games and went yard in a third consecutive contest. The 28-year-old has belted nine homers in 13 games, totaling 14 RBI and 12 runs while batting .358 (19-for-53) during that stretch. Burger is up to 22 homers this season and has a .768 OPS.

  • Joseph Ortiz 2B | MIL

    Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Swats homer

Ortiz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Reds.

Ortiz got the scoring started Sunday, tagging Nick Lodolo for a two-run homer in the second inning. The long ball was Ortiz's eighth of the season, and the third baseman appears to finally be breaking out of his slump, going 9-for-24 with four extra-base hits during his last six games.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Drives in three

Chapman went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Tigers.

Chapman had a two-run single in the first and an RBI single in the sixth to produce the Giants' first three runs. The third baseman was held hitless in the first two games versus the Tigers, but he's still batting .325 (13-for-40) with four home runs and 12 RBI over 10 games in August. For the season, he's up to a .249/.338/.450 slash line with 19 homers, 60 RBI, 81 runs scored, 30 doubles, one triple and 12 stolen bases over 117 contests.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Smacks homer, double in loss

Riley went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Sunday's 9-8 loss to Colorado.

Riley gave Atlanta a hot start with his first-inning homer and came around to score again on a Matt Olson double in the seventh. Riley is 7-for-23 (.304) with three homers and eight RBI over his last five contests. For the season, he's posted a .264/.330/.475 slash line with 18 homers, 55 RBI, 60 runs scored, 26 doubles and no stolen bases over 103 games. His power is still behind where it's been over the previous three years, but it appears he's turning things around.

  • Nationals' Andres Chaparro: Set to join major-league roster

The Nationals are expected to call up Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Tuesday's game against the Angels, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Washington acquired Chaparro at the trade deadline in a deal that sent relief pitcher Dylan Floro to the Diamondbacks. The 25-year-old infielder will get his first taste of the big leagues after he combined to hit .328 with 23 home runs, 85 RBI, 76 runs and three stolen bases over 105 games with Triple-A Reno and Triple-A Rochester this season. With Jose Tena sustaining a thumb injury Sunday that could force him to the injured list, Chaparro could end up replacing him as the Nationals' primary option at third base in the short term.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Aiming for return from IL next week

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Sunday in an interview with Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that he expects Muncy (oblique) to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list at some point during the Dodgers' next homestand, which begins Aug. 19.

Out since mid-May due to a significant right oblique strain, Muncy finally reached the last stage of his recovery program by kicking off a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday. He started at third base and played six innings in the field while going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Though Muncy is back in the lineup Sunday at designated hitter for Oklahoma City, he'll presumably get in a few more games at third base and potentially even at first base during the upcoming week as he works to regain his timing at the plate. Assuming he avoids any setbacks with his oblique during the rehab assignment, Muncy should step back into an everyday role in the infield right away once the Dodgers activate him.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Out with ankle soreness

Vientos was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners due to left ankle soreness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The ankle issue has apparently been bothering Vientos since late July and cost him a start Aug. 5 against the Cardinals, but he had been part of the lineup in four of the Mets' subsequent five contests. Assuming Vientos isn't dealing with any sort of major setback with the ankle, he should have a good chance at returning to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener versus the Athletics following Monday's team off day.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Late scratch Sunday

Vientos (undisclosed) was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Mariners, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Vientos was originally set to start at third base and bat eighth Sunday, but he's been scratched for an undisclosed reason. More information on his status will likely come in the near future, but in the meantime, Jose Iglesias will slide over to the hot corner while Ben Gamel enters the lineup in right field after some lineup shuffling.
