  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Out of Friday's lineup

Urshela (knee) is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals.

The 29-year-old was pulled from Thursday's contest with a knee injury and is considered day-to-day after his MRI results came back clean, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. The Yankees called up Miguel Andujar earlier in the day but optioned Albert Abreu to clear a spot, so Urshela doesn't appear to be heading to the injured list at this point. Andujar will play first base and take Urshela's spot in the lineup, shifting DJ LeMahieu to the hot corner.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Returns from injured list

Segura (quadriceps) was activated off the 10-day injured list Friday.

Segura missed over two weeks with a strained right quadriceps. He'd gotten off to a hot start prior to the injury, hitting .333/.359/.450 through 17 games. He should return to his regular role at second base, pushing Nick Maton to the bench. Mickey Moniak was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Records three more hits Thursday

Candelario went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.

Candelario went 3-for-5 for the second straight game against Boston, and the infielder is now batting .298 thanks to this torrid stretch at the plate. He should continue to play every day and post solid numbers, though his RBI total may be suppressed if his teammates continue struggling to get on base.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

    Phillies' Jean Segura: Activation imminent

Segura (quadriceps) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Headed for MRI

Manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Urshela will receive an MRI on his knee, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Urshela was removed from Thursday's loss to the Astros in the top of the eighth inning, and his examination could help to determine the severity of his injury. • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Leaves Thursday with injury

Urshela was removed in the top of the eighth inning of Thursday's game against the Astros due to an apparent injury, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports. He went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk before departing.

Urshela looked to be walking with a limp when he exited the field, so he could be dealing with some sort of lower-body injury. The Yankees elected to pull Urshela from the contest shortly after he committed a throwing error that allowed Kyle Tucker to advance into scoring position. Expect the team to provide an update on the nature of Urshela's injury shortly after the game concludes.
