Muncy (wrist) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

This isn't all too surprising. Muncy was struck on the wrist by a pitch in the fifth inning Wednesday, and while initial X-rays cleared him of structural damage, he said after the game that he'll undergo additional tests on his injured right wrist. Muncy also stated that he expects to miss at least a few days, per Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA. Enrique Hernandez is starting at the keystone in this one while Muncy awaits the results of his tests.

Manager Bob Melvin said Chapman will play Friday against the Yankees, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Chapman was struck in the helmet by a pitch during Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Royals. He was cleared of any concussion symptoms, however, and appears poised to rejoin the lineup Friday after entering Thursday's series finale in the ninth inning as a defensive replacement. Through 23 games in August, Chapman is slashing .244/.337/.570 with seven home runs and seven doubles.

The Mets promoted Baty on Thursday from their rookie-level Kingsport affiliate to short-season Brooklyn.

The 12th overall pick in June's first-year player draft, Baty will move on to his third different affiliate after slashing .236/.355/.461 between stops with Kingsport and the Mets' Gulf Coast League affiliate. The third baseman will provide Brooklyn with some reinforcement for its postseason run, which should provide some meaningful experience for the 19-year-old as he prepares for a likely assignment to a full-season affiliate in 2020.

Bregman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Rays.

Bregman has opened the series with Tampa Bay with back-to-back three-hit outings and has recorded at least two hits in all but one of his past six starts. The 25-year-old has been the majors' top hitter in August, slashing an incredible .420/.500/.807 with six home runs, 28 RBI and 26 runs in 23 games while striking out in just 7.8 percent of his plate appearances.

Moncada went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 loss.

Though he was able to end his three-game hitless streak with a single to deep right in the fourth inning, Moncada otherwise endured another tough night, striking out in his other three plate appearances. He's now struck out at least twice in four of his past five games, a disappointing development after he mashed four extra-base hits in his first two contests upon returning from the injured list last week. Manager Rick Renteria appears content to let Moncada work through his struggles, as the third baseman will remain in the cleanup spot for Thursday's series finale.

Chad Pinder will man the hot corner in Chapman's stead in the series finale.

The Dodgers should have a better idea regarding the exact nature and extent of Muncy's injury after sending him in for more scans Thursday, but the 29-year-old seems unlikely to be available for the team's series opener in Arizona even if the tests yield favorable results.

Devers went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a triple and two more runs scored during Wednesday's victory over the Rockies.

Devers tacked on an insurance run with a 434-foot solo homer in the ninth inning off Wes Parsons, increasing Boston's lead to 7-4. The talented 22-year-old also tripled and scored in the third, then singled and scored again in the fifth. Devers, who leads the American League with 104 RBI this season, has tallied 28 home runs along with a team-leading .324 batting average and 174 hits.

Davis went 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored Wednesday against the Cubs.

Davis took Kyle Hendricks deep in the fifth inning, going back-to-back with Jeff McNeil. It was his 17th homer of the season and second in as many days. While he has struggled with strikeouts of late -- he's whiffed eight times in his last 23 plate appearances -- he's continued to provide plenty of power to offset the inconsistent contact. For the campaign, he's hitting .304/.367/.514 across 365 plate appearances.
