The Red Sox placed Bregman (personal) on the paternity list Wednesday.

As a result of the transaction, Bregman will have to miss at least one game and a maximum of three while he welcomes a new addition to his family. The Red Sox recalled Nick Sogard from Triple-A Worcester to provide some extra coverage in the infield while Bregman is away from the team.

Mastrobuoni is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Mastrobuoni had cracked the lineup in each of the Mariners' previous four games against right-handed starting pitchers, but he'll head to the bench Wednesday as the Reds send righty Nick Martinez to the hill. With Jorge Polanco limited to designated-hitter duties while he tends to a side injury, the Mariners could mix and match with Mastrobuoni, Ben Williamson (who is starting Wednesday) and Dylan Moore at third base rather than settling on a primary replacement.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Sogard will be called up from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Wednesday's game at Tampa Bay, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Alex Bregman will head to the paternity list in a corresponding move, which means he will be unavailable for as many as three games. Sogard will give Cora another infield option while Bregman is away, but it could be Romy Gonzalez who serves as the primary replacement at third base over the next few days.

Candelario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

After Austin Hays (calf) and Matt McLain (hamstring) were reinstated from the injured list Tuesday, the Reds are at full strength in the infield and outfield for the first time all season. Though he picked up a start at designated hitter in Tuesday's 8-4 win while Spencer Steer rested, Candelario will be the odd man out of the lineup Wednesday while Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Gavin Lux occupy the two corner-infield spots. While Candelario should retain a regular spot in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, he could be subject to more of a part-time role against righties now that Cincinnati has more appealing options to fill out the lineup with the returns of Hays and McLain. Candelario has yet to get going at the plate this season, slashing .125/.219/.196 with a 31.2 percent strikeout rate over 64 plate appearances.

Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Vientos will get his first day off of the season after struggling to a .145/.254/.210 batting line while failing to hit a home run through 71 plate appearances. Brett Baty will get the nod at third base Wednesday, but he's mustered a lowly .361 OPS so far this season and likely doesn't present a major threat to Vientos' standing atop the depth chart.

The Nationals placed DeJong on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured nose, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

DeJong suffered the injury in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Pirates, when he was hit in the face by a Mitch Keller offering. If the fractured nose is the extent of his injuries, DeJong shouldn't be in line for an extended absence. Trey Lipscomb was recalled from Triple-A Rochester and will take over DeJong's spot on the 26-man active roster.

Wagner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

The lefty-hitting Wagner is off to a 3-for-28 start to the plate in April, and the ongoing slump has started to cost him some playing time. He'll be on the bench for the second time in the Blue Jays' last three matchups versus right-handers, with Ernie Clement getting the nod at third base as Atlanta sends Spencer Strider to the mound.

The Nationals are likely to place DeJong (face) on the 10-day injured list, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

DeJong was hit in the face by a pitch in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game versus the Pirates. There's no word yet on the specifics of his injuries, but he will need some down time. Trey Lipscomb is slated to take his roster spot and Amed Rosario is likely to see the bulk of the starts at third base while DeJong is out.

Duran started at first base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Angels.

Duran entered the starting lineup with Jake Burger sitting out due to an illness. Duran, who opened the season in Texas and was recently recalled from the minors, is hitless through 14 at-bats.

Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Cubs.

The blast shouldn't have happened, as Machado popped up two balls in foul territory during the same at-bat, but he got reprieves each time when they were dropped by Kyle Tucker and Gage Workman. Machado took full advantage of the extra chance, driving the ninth pitch he saw from Shota Imanaga over the fence in left-center field. It was Machado's second long ball of the season in 18 games, and the 32-year-old has had an overall strong start to the campaign, slashing .313/.387/.507 with six steals, seven RBI and 16 runs.
