  • Aaron Schunk 3B | ATL

Rockies' Aaron Schunk: Heads to IL

Schunk was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left groin strain.

Schunk had moved into a regular role, at least in the short term with Ezequiel Tovar (hip) on the shelf. Back in 2024, Schunk saw the bulk of his work at third base and second base, but with Tovar out, Schunk received all seven of his starts at shortstop. Kyle Farmer and Adael Amador should handle the middle-infield duties until Tovar and or Schunk are healthy.

  • Jose Tena DH | WAS

Nationals' Jose Tena: Three more hits Friday

Tena went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's win over the Mets.

It's the second three-hit performance this week for Tena, who has seized a strong-side platoon role at third base with Paul DeJong (nose) sidelined. Tena's started five of the last seven games, all against right-handed pitching, and gone 8-for-20 (.400) with two doubles, a triple, three runs and five RBI.

  • Mark Vientos 1B | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Drives in three against Nats

Vientos went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in Friday's loss to the Nationals.

The 25-year-old third baseman had a slow start to the season, but Vientos is heating up rapidly. He's hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, batting .289 (11-for-38) during that stretch with six extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and two homers), seven runs and nine RBI.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Cubs' Jon Berti: Two hits in Friday's win

Berti went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 4-0 win over the Phillies.

Berti has emerged as Chicago's primary third baseman following the demotion of Matt Shaw, and he's provided decent production with a .250 average for the season. The veteran's greatest asset is his speed, as he has seven stolen bases in seven attempts, and he could run more often now that his playing time has increased.

  • Noelvi Marte RF | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Stays hot in win

Marte went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 8-7 win over the Rockies. He was also caught stealing.

Marte delivered the first two Cincinnati runs and then scored its sixth run. The effort continued a sizzling stretch for the third baseman, who is 11-for-22 with three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and five runs scored over the last five contests. After batting in the lower third of the batting order upon his arrival from Triple-A Louisville, Marte batted fifth the last two games.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Gets hit in first rehab game

Lewis (hamstring) went 1-for-3 with a double and played third base in his first rehab game Friday for Triple-A St. Paul. He's not expected to play Saturday as the Twins ease him into action, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Lewis won't be activated from the injured list until he is able to play on consecutive days, according to the report, which means he likely won't return before a homestand that begins May 6. Lewis suffered the left hamstring strain March 16 while running to first base.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Productive night at plate in loss

Suarez went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and two walks in Friday's loss to Atlanta.

Suarez has really struggled recently, so it was encouraging to see him put together a productive outing at the plate. Over his last 14 contests, the slugging third baseman is hitting just .180 (9-for-50) with one home run, three doubles, four RBI and six runs scored. Suarez, who entered Friday's action with an elite 58.6 percent hard-hit rate, hit five homers over his first five games of the campaign, which presents a glimpse of the type of power upside he offers in fantasy leagues in spite of his recent slump.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Continues torrid April in win

Riley went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk in Friday's win over Arizona.

Riley delivered a pair of two-out RBI, one in the second inning and another in the eighth to put Atlanta in front 8-1. The star third baseman posted his 11th multi-hit effort of the campaign, with each of them coming in the month of April. Over his last 16 games, Riley is batting .388 (26-for-67) with five home runs, three doubles, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored.

  • Aaron Schunk 3B | ATL

Rockies' Aaron Schunk: Seeing regular work

Schunk went 2-for-7 across both games of Thursday's doubleheader against the Royals.

Schunk had his contract selected Saturday to replace Ezequiel Tovar (hip), and he has started six of Colorado's seven games at shortstop since. His production hasn't been particularly noteworthy, though he has only two strikeouts across 13 at-bats after punching out three times in his first contest. Schunk appears to be locked into a starting role until Tovar can return.

  • Josh H. Smith 2B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Fills in at shortstop

Smith started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 with a walk in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Athletics.

Smith filled in for the injured Corey Seager (hamstring) and is expected to handle the strong side of a platoon at short in his absence. Nick Ahmed, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Round Rock earlier this week, started Wednesday against a lefty. Smith has also hit leadoff the last two times Texas has faced a right-handed pitcher.
