  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Swipes two bags

Marte went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Cardinals.

Marte's playing time has been sporadic in September -- this was his fifth game of the month. He's gone 3-for-15 (.200) in those contests while adding a 1:8 BB:K. Marte is up to eight steals on 10 attempts this year while slashing a meager .203/.239/.305 with four home runs, 15 RBI and 22 runs scored over 54 games. He got the start at designated hitter Wednesday, but that has typically been Amed Rosario's spot in the lineup versus right-handers in recent weeks.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Goes yard in win

Arenado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Arenado tied the game at 1-1 with his fourth-inning solo shot. This was his first homer over nine games in September, and he's now batting .212 (7-for-33) in that span. The third baseman is up to 16 homers, 65 RBI, 64 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .268/.320/.399 slash line over 138 contests this season.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Hitting bench Wednesday

Miranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Miranda will hit the bench after he had started in each of the Twins' first 10 games of September while slashing .268/.268/.341. Though he's not locked into a full-time role at any one spot in the Minnesota lineup, Miranda should continue to benefit from near-everyday playing time while moving between first base, third base and designated hitter.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

Royals' Paul DeJong: Sitting amid slump

DeJong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

DeJong will hit the bench for the second time in three games while he's gotten off to a 3-for-19 start to September. Since joining the Royals ahead of the trade deadline, DeJong has put together a respectable .244/.300/.478 slash line, so the team likely isn't ready to pull the plug on him just yet as a near-everyday player.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Fills in for resting Garcia

Vargas will start at third base and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Vargas has now picked up just two starts through the Nationals' first nine games of the month, with both coming against left-handed pitchers. He'll be filling in Wednesday for Luis Garcia, who will cede the keystone to Jose Tena while Vargas covers Tena's usual spot in the infield.

  • Coby Mayo 3B | BAL

Orioles' Coby Mayo: Back on bench Wednesday

Mayo is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Boston.

Mayo had made two straight starts after starting just one of the previous six contests. He's back on the bench for Wednesday's series finale, with Emmanuel Rivera drawing the start at third base for the Orioles.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Mariners' Jason Vosler: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Mariners outrighted Vosler to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

He's no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Vosler has batted only .179/.233/.286 over 10 games in the majors this season.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: On bench against lefty

Barger is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Barger has moved into a regular role against right-handed pitching, but the Blue Jays continue to shield the lefty-hitting utility man from southpaws. He'll cede duties at third base to Luis De Los Santos while southpaw Sean Manaea takes the hill for the Mets.

  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Crosses plate three times Tuesday

Clement went 2-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Mets.

The 28-year-old infielder's hot bat has kept him in the lineup in September. Clement has five multi-hit performances in eight games to begin the month, batting .324 (11-for-34) with a double, a triple, a homer, a steal, two RBI and eight runs. He could get squeezed for playing time once Bo Bichette (calf) comes off the IL, but for now Clement will continue bouncing between shortstop and third base while getting regular at-bats.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Historic homer in Tuesday's win

Machado went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.

Machado's first hit of the night was a two-run blast to center in the sixth, which put him alone atop the Padres' all-time leaderboard. Machado wasn't done yet, as he plated two more runs in the seventh on a base hit with the bases loaded. The 32-year-old has at least a base hit in 10 of his last 12 games and has racked up 15 RBI over that span. For the year, he's now slashing .276/.329/.472 with 26 homers, 94 RBI, 70 runs, nine steals and a 42:106 BB:K in 578 plate appearances.
