Schunk will start at third base and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Nationals.

The utility player will enter the lineup as a replacement at the hot corner for the lefty-hitting Ryan McMahon, who is getting the afternoon off while the Rockies face off against Nationals lefty Patrick Corbin. Since getting called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on June 28, Schunk has made just 13 starts and is slashing .174/.224/.239 over 49 plate appearances.

McMahon is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Nationals.

The Nationals are sending southpaw Patrick Corbin to the hill in Thursday's matinee, presenting an opportunity to give the left-handed-hitting McMahon some rest. Aaron Schunk will handle third base for the Rockies.

Clement went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a three-run home run in Wednesday's 11-7 loss to the Reds.

The 28-year-old infielder went yard for the second straight game, and his third-inning shot off Nick Martinez gave the Blue Jays a 6-0 lead that the pitching staff quickly squandered. Clement has caught fire in August, and over his last 17 games he sports a .290/.329/.478 slash line, but most of the power has come in the last week -- five of his six extra-base hits on the month, including all three homers, have come in his last six contests.

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 11-7 win over the Blue Jays.

Marte launched his fourth home run of the season as part of a three-run sixth inning that gave the Reds some breathing room. It was the second straight game in which he's recorded multiple hits, and the performance raised his batting average to .197, the highest it's been since his third game of the season June 29. It's not saying much, but Marte's .632 OPS in August has been his best month since he was reinstated from an 80-game suspension in June.

Burger went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Burger helped the Marlins take an early lead with his two-run blast off Arizona starter Jordan Montgomery in the first inning. The long ball was his 10th through 19 contests in what has been a big August for the slugger. Burger is up to 25 home runs on the campaign as he closes in on the 30-homer mark for the second straight season.

Solano went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Twins.

Solano entered as a pinch hitter for Jurickson Profar in the fifth inning after the Twins built a 10-0 lead and homered to put the Padres on the board. He's been effective in a reserve role for San Diego this season, slashing .309/.360/.440 with six home runs, 28 RBI, 25 runs and a stolen base over 225 plate appearances.

Arenado went 3-for-5 with a grand slam, a double, a walk and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-6 extra-inning win over the Brewers.

Arenado came up clutch with the game tied in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure the win for the Cardinals. The grand slam was his third homer over his last seven games. The third baseman is batting .319 (22-for-69) with 14 RBI over 18 contests in August, which has been a resurgent month for him. Arenado is up to a .272/.326/.406 slash line, 14 homers, 59 RBI, 53 runs scored, 19 doubles and two stolen bases over 119 games this season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Berti (calf) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Somerset, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

After experiencing no setbacks with his right calf upon being cleared for full baseball activities over the weekend, Berti is ready to play in games for the first time since late May. He'll likely remain on assignment at least through the weekend while he looks to regain his timing at the plate following a lengthy layoff, but if he fares well, Berti could make it back from the 60-day injured list before the end of August. Berti had been filling a utility role for the Yankees prior to straining his calf, but he could pick up regular at-bats at third base once he's activated. The Yankees have been leaning on youngsters Oswaldo Cabrera and Oswald Peraza at the hot corner since Jazz Chisholm (elbow) landed on the injured list Aug. 14.

DeJong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

DeJong will hit the bench after he had started in five of the past six games while going 7-for-20 with two home runs and two doubles. Though he'll give way to Maikel Garcia in the series finale, DeJong may be the Royals' preferred option of the two at third base while he's swinging a hotter bat at the moment. Garcia has turned in a weak .575 OPS since the beginning of August and was on the bench in each of the Royals' previous three matchups with right-handers.

Hernaiz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

It's the second time on the bench in the past three days for Hernaiz, who has a .206/.289/.294 slash line through 11 games in August. Tyler Nevin will start at the hot corner and bat sixth in his place.
