  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Taking seat Friday

LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Red Sox.

LeMahieu has stumbled to a .499 OPS in 154 plate appearances this season and is at risk of losing more playing time if his bat doesn't perk up. Oswaldo Cabrera will bat ninth and play third base Friday.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Getting breather Friday

Garcia is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Garcia started each of the Royals' first six games coming out of the All-Star break and will get the night off Friday. Nick Loftin will bat seventh and man the hot corner in Garcia's place.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Sitting out Friday

Smith is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Toronto.

The left-handed hitting Smith will get the day off as the Blue Jays send southpaw Yusei Kikuchi to the hill. Righty-hitting Jonathan Ornelas will handle third base duties.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

    Tigers' Gio Urshela: Sitting again

Urshela is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Urshela is absent from the Tigers' starting nine for a second consecutive game, yielding to Bligh Madris at first base. Urshela went hitless in seven at-bats during the Tigers' recent four-game series with the Guardians.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Records three hits Thursday

Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's 6-4 win against the Giants.

Hernandez opened the scoring in the contest with a second-inning RBI single and added a run-scoring double in the fourth. The utility man has hit safely in four of his past six games and is slashing .318/.318/.545 with a home run, four RBI and four runs over that span. With the Dodgers' infield decimated by injuries to Mookie Betts (hand), Max Muncy (oblique), Miguel Rojas (forearm) and Chris Taylor (groin), Hernandez has had an opportunity to play nearly every day. He's started at shortstop or third base in each of Los Angeles' past five contests.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Reinstated from injured list

The Twins activated Lewis (groin) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

The 25-year-old landed on the shelf with an adductor strain in early July, but he's ready to rejoin the Twins after a two-game rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Lewis has been dominant at the plate when available this year with 10 homers and a 1.039 OPS, but injuries have limited him to just 24 games.

  • Marlins' Deyvison De Los Santos: Sent to Miami

De Los Santos was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Marlins along with Andrew Pintar in exchange for A.J. Puk on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

De Los Santos has always had plenty of raw power, and he's translated that to game action this season by posting a .324 ISO with Double-A Amarillo before being promoted to Triple-A Reno. He has 28 total home runs across 87 games between the two levels and could provide some needed thump to the middle of the Marlins order in the near future. For the time being, De Los Santos will likely report to Triple-A Jacksonville.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Plates four in rout

Paredes went 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, four RBI and two runs during Thursday's 13-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Paredes had gone hitless in six of his previous seven starts but snapped out of the cold spell with Thursday's multi-hit performance. His four RBI marked a season high, bringing his 2024 total to 55. Through 416 plate appearances, Paredes is slashing .250/.353/.444 with 16 home runs.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

    Athletics' Abraham Toro: Idle Thursday

Toro isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Thursday's game versus the Angels.

The switch-hitting Toro boasts a .783 OPS in 73 plate appearances against left-handers this season, but he will take a seat Thursday with southpaw Kenny Rosenberg on the mound. While Toro rests, Brett Harris will field the hot corner and bat eighth.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Giants' Matt Chapman: Reaches four times in win

Chapman went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers while also drawing two walks.

Chapman walked in his first plate appearance before launching a leadoff homer in the fourth to tie the game at 1-1. The third baseman would go on to reach base four times in the contest while also driving in multiple runs for only the second time this month. Following the two-hit performance, Chapman is still batting just .190 (12-for-63) in July with three homers, six RBI and 14 runs scored. He's also recorded at least one walk in three straight games.
