  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Could return Monday

Rendon (hamstring) said Sunday that he could be reinstated from the 60-day injured list for Monday's series opener against the Rangers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The 34-year-old faced live pitching Friday and Saturday, and he appears set to rejoin the Angels without embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment. Rendon has been on the shelf since April 21 due to a partial high-grade hamstring tear, and manager Ron Washington plans to alternate the veteran's playing time between designated hitter and third base until he's ready for everyday action in the field.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Swipes eighth bag

Hayes went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Mets.

Hayes reached base in three of his four at-bats Sunday, as he also reached on an error in addition to a pair of singles. Hayes now has a multi-hit game in four of his last eight contests, with three steals in that span. The power numbers continue to plague Hayes though, as he's slugging a poor .299 for the season. The 27-year-old has 11 extra-base hits through 270 plate appearances this season and will need to pick those numbers up in order to have a larger fantasy impact.

  • Athletics' Armando Alvarez: Returns to bench

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

After being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 22, Alvarez was available off the bench for his first three games with the big club, then proceeded to start four consecutive contests. His playing time has dried up since then, as Alvarez has now made just one start in the Athletics' last seven games. Alvarez could be at risk of a demotion when Oakland needs to open up room on the active roster for either Abraham Toro (hamstring) or Esteury Ruiz (wrist), both of whom are expected to return from the injured list at some point after the All-Star break.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Checking back into lineup

Smith (glute) will start at third base and bat third in Sunday's game against the Rays.

Smith had been out of the lineup for the past two days with glute tightness, but he'll be ready to give it a go for the series finale. The 26-year-old will carry a four-game hitting streak into Sunday's contest and is slashing .291/.391/.509 overall wit three home runs, nine RBI and seven runs in his last 15 games.

  • Miguel Sano 3B | LAA

Angels' Miguel Sano: Looks to be part of platoon

Sano is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Though he looked like he might have a chance at recapturing an everyday role with the Angels after Luis Rengifo (wrist) was placed on the injured list Friday, Sano may instead be occupying the short side of a platoon at third base with the lefty-hitting Luis Guillorme. Sano had started at third base against left-handers Thursday and Friday, but he's on the bench Sunday for the second day in a row against a righty while Guillorme covers the hot corner.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Resting after historic streak ends

Miranda is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Miranda will get a breather for the series finale after he recorded a pair of base hits and was hit by a pitch before flying out in his final at-bat of Saturday's 9-3 win. The flyout ended a streak of 13 consecutive plate appearances in which he got on base and 12 consecutive at-bats with a hit, the latter of which tied an MLB record. Miranda still has a 10-game active hitting streak, which he'll presumably put on hold Sunday before he likely returns to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the White Sox.

  • Marlins' Emmanuel Rivera: Back on bench Sunday

Rivera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Heading into the weekend, Rivera had started at third base in each of the last four games, but he'll move to the bench for the second time during the Marlins' three-game series with the White Sox. Rivera should have a regular spot in the lineup against left-handed pitching, but he might be viewed as more of a part-time option against right-handed pitching while he's thus far provided a weak .214/.296/.257 slash line over 160 plate appearances in the big leagues this season.

  • Trey Lipscomb 3B | WAS

Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Could get regular run at third base

Lipscomb will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Called up from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, Lipscomb will make his second straight start at third base after going 1-for-5 with a run scored in the Nationals' 14-6 win in the second game of the series with St. Louis. With Washington designating Nick Senzel for assignment Saturday, Lipscomb should have a fairly clear path to a regular role at the hot corner, if his performance warrants him sticking around as an everyday player. Over four stints in the majors this season, Lipscomb enters Sunday's game with a collective .236/.307/.268 slash line to go with one home run and 10 stolen bases across 137 plate appearances.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Back in bench role

Vargas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Vargas picked up five straight starts in the infield between last Sunday and Thursday, but he benefited largely from Washington facing three left-handed pitchers over that stretch. He'll now hit the bench for the third game in a row, with a right-hander taking the hill for the opposition in each of those contests.

  • Brett Harris 3B | ATH

Athletics' Brett Harris: First three-hit game of career

Harris went 3-for-4 with an RBI infield single, two doubles, a walk and three runs in a win over the Orioles on Saturday.

The rookie was a catalyst in the Athletics' 19-run outburst, driving in Armando Alvarez with his second-inning single and crossing the plate on three occasions thanks to his constant presence on the basepaths. Harris has reached safely in four of the first five games of his current big-league stint, and Saturday marked the first three-hit game of his young career.
