Garcia (hand) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Garcia will miss out on at least one start after he exited Tuesday's 6-4 loss after five innings due to soreness in his left hand. Though Garcia looked to have suffered the injury during a swing on his final at-bat of the evening, he told Anne Rogers of MLB.com on Wednesday that the hand has been a recurring issue since the Royals' series with the Cardinals a month ago. Garcia noted that he typically feels pain only when he hits foul balls rather than making direct contact, and the expectation is that he'll continue to play through the lingering discomfort. Nick Loftin will draw the start at third base in place of Garcia in the series finale in Washington and will bat eighth.

Bohm went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins.

The third baseman took Tyler Phillips deep for a two-run shot in the second inning, one of three Phillies long balls off the right-hander. Bohm held a meager .606 OPS at the end of May, but through 14 games in June he's found a groove, slashing .275/.296/.490 with two doubles, three homers, one steal, five runs and 14 RBI for the month.

Gelof went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, two total runs, two total RBI and a stolen base in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh was unable to retire Gelof, who collected three of the Athletics' eight hits. He knocked an infield single in the first inning that resulted in three runs, though Gelof was credited with just one RBI, as two of the scores were the result of an error. Gelof added a solo homer in the sixth, but his performance wasn't enough to prevent the Pirates from pulling out the win via a late comeback. Gelof has somewhat quietly put together a 20-game hitting streak, during which he's batting a scorching .372 with four homers, six doubles, 13 runs, 11 RBI and two stolen bases.

X-rays on Keith's right wrist came back negative Tuesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Keith was a late scratch from the lineup before Tuesday's contest due to wrist soreness, but precautionary imaging determined that he isn't dealing with a serious issue, and the Tigers expect him to return to action Wednesday. The 24-year-old infielder is batting just .206 (7-for-34) since the start of June, but he exploded for three homers and six total RBI during his most recent game.

Garcia was removed from Tuesday's game against the Nationals with an apparent hand injury, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Garcia's hand looked to be bothering him during his final plate appearance in the fourth inning, and the Royals eventually pulled him for a pinch hitter in the sixth. The severity of his injury is unknown, but the Royals should provide more information after the game.

Mayo is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Mariners, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Mayo will take a seat for another contest, making it four of the last six that he has not been in the starting lineup. Blaze Alexander appears to have supplanted him in the pecking order at third base, as Alexander is starting at the hot corner and batting eighth in the series opener versus Seattle.

Keith was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros with right wrist soreness.

After belting three home runs during Monday's series opener, Keith will be forced to sit out Tuesday's game to give his wrist a chance to heal. Kerry Carpenter will move into the DH spot with Keith out, allowing Wenceel Perez to start in right field.

Groover will start at designated hitter and bat ninth in Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Though he'll crack the starting nine Tuesday while southpaw Reid Detmers is on the bump for the Angels, Groover appears likely to lose out on regular playing time against right-handed pitching. After Lourdes Gurriel's recent return from the injured list, Arizona has a bit of a logjam in the corner-outfield spots and designated hitter, which has resulted in Pavin Smith drawing starts at first base over Groover in the Diamondbacks' last two matchups with righties. Smith and Groover could continue to work in a quasi-platoon for the time being, but Groover may be at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Reno once Max Kepler (suspension) is eligible to make his Arizona debut June 25. Since being called up from Triple-A earlier this month, Groover has gone 5-for-25 (.200 average) with no extra-base hits, two RBI and one run through his first seven games.

The Dodgers designated Espinal for assignment Tuesday.

Espinal will be the roster casualty necessary to make room on the 26-man and 40-man rosters for Tommy Edman (ankle), who returned from the 60-day IL on Tuesday. Espinal will have the right to elect free agency if he clears waivers, but he could decide to remain with the organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City like he did when he was DFA'd in late May.

Ramirez underwent surgery to address the hamate bone fracture in his left hand Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined 5-to-7 weeks, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

The veteran third baseman sustained the injury over the weekend against the Tigers and will now be sidelined through the All-Star break. Ramirez hasn't produced at his usual level this season with just 10 homers and a .757 OPS through 72 games, though his 24 stolen bases did put him on pace for a career high prior to the injury.
