Angels' Miguel Sano: MRI shows inflammation in knee

Sano said after Saturday's 16-5 loss to the Twins that he's day-to-day after an MRI revealed inflammation in his left knee, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Sano looks to have avoided a major setback with his surgically repaired left knee. He exited games Wednesday and Friday due to soreness, and Angels manager Ron Washington told Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register that the left knee had contributed to Sano's recent struggles at the plate. While Sano says he's day-to-day, it wouldn't be surprising if he remained out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale with Minnesota, and a stint on the injured list can't be completely ruled out.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Collects two hits in win

Farmer went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's victory over the Angels.

Farmer finally showed signs of breaking out of a terrible slump as he was hitting .100 (5-for-50) with a .390 OPS in his first 21 games. Farmer is splitting playing time at third base with Jose Miranda, with Royce Lewis (quad) and Carlos Correa (oblique) injured. Farmer will likely move to more of a bench role when Correa returns in the next few days with Willi Castro likely to get the most playing time at third base.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Yankees' Jon Berti: All set for rehab assignment

Berti (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Berti has been shut down for the last two weeks with a left groin strain but is ready to play in some rehab games to show he's over the injury. Because he hasn't missed that much time, Berti probably won't need a lengthy rehab assignment before being activated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Miguel Sano 3B | LAA

Angels' Miguel Sano: Gets left knee checked out

Sano went to have his sore left knee examined Saturday afternoon, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Sano was in the starting lineup Friday after battling soreness in the knee for several days, but his knee "flared up again" after two at-bats, per manager Ron Washington. The Angels have not provided an update as of Saturday evening, and it's especially concerning given that Sano's left knee is what cost him the better part of the last two seasons. Sano got off to a decent start with the Angels and went yard last weekend for his first MLB homer in over two years, but his status is up in the air at the moment.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Emerges from fall uninjured

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Morel "is fine" after exiting Saturday's game versus the Red Sox after the seventh inning following a fall in the outfield, CHGO Cubs reports.

Morel toppled over left fielder Alexander Canario after making a running catch and landed hard on the ground, banging up his elbows and right hip. He looked to be in some pain and was removed from the game at that point. However, it sounds like he probably would've remained in if the score hadn't been so lopsided. It's possible the Cubs will hold Morel out Sunday if he's still a bit sore, but it does not appear fantasy managers need to have any real worry about his status.

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Not starting Saturday

Miranda isn't in the Twins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

Miranda will catch a breather Saturday after stringing together back-to-back multi-hit performances. Kyle Farmer will get the nod at the hot corner instead and bat eighth.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Tigers' Andy Ibanez: Continuing rehab assignment

Ibanez (hamstring) will start at second base for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Ibanez has played two games in Triple-A as part of his rehab assignment, going 3-for-6 with two doubles and one RBI over that span. If all goes well in Sunday's stint, Ibanez could be available for the Tigers' next series against the Cardinals starting Monday.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Nationals' Nick Senzel: Returns to lineup Saturday

Senzel (illness) will serve as the Nationals' designated hitter Saturday against the Marlins.

A stomach illness has kept Senzel from playing in Washington's last two games, but the issue appears to have subsided prior to Saturday's contest. The 28-year-old is slashing .200/.259/.440 with two homers across 27 plate appearances this season.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Gets breather Saturday

Candelario isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Candelario will get a chance to clear his head Saturday after going 0-for-15 with eight strikeouts across his last five games. Santiago Espinal will step in to cover third base instead while batting ninth.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Picks up steal

Arias went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 loss to Atlanta.

Arias' last four starts have been evenly split between second and third, providing opportunities for Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez to get rest. Arias is off to a solid start this season in a utility role, slashing .278/.304/.426 with three steals, one home run, eight RBI and seven runs scored across 56 plate appearances. He's already played at six different positions this season, so he should be able to be in the lineup semi-regularly despite lacking a single obvious path to playing time.
