  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Walks it off Friday

McMahon went 3-for-5 with a double, a grand slam and a second run scored in Friday's 10-7 win over the Rays.

The 29-year-old committed an error in a five-run top of the ninth inning that put Tampa Bay ahead 7-6, but McMahon atoned for it with a walkoff slam on a Jason Adam sweeper that caught too much of the plate. It was McMahon's first homer of 2024, but he's off to a blistering start, batting .414 (12-for-29) with three runs and six RBI through eight games -- numbers that are even more impressive considering that Friday was the Rockies' home opener.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Back in lineup Friday

Candelario (elbow) will be the designated hitter and bat cleanup in Friday's game versus the Mets.

Candelario had to exit Wednesday's game with a hyperextended right elbow, but he won't wind up missing any starts. It is possible that the switch hitter will be limited to DH duties for a bit, however, in order to protect the elbow.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: On base four times in twin bill

Baty went 1-for-6 with three walks, a run scored and an RBI across both games of Thursday's doubleheader split with the Tigers.

The 24-year-old third baseman reached base three times in the matinee before drawing another free pass in the nightcap. The walks were the first of the season for Baty, who's batting .222 (4-for-18) through six games with a homer, two runs and four RBI as he looks to establish himself at the hot corner for the Mets.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Dealing with hyperextended elbow

Manager David Bell said after Thursday's game against the Phillies that Candelario might just be dealing with a hyperextension of his right elbow, and the third baseman will be evaluated ahead of Friday's game against the Mets, according to Bally Sports Cincinnati.

Candelario felt a stinger during a swing in his final at-bat Thursday. He hit a double on the next pitch but was replaced on defense as the team didn't want him aggravating the injury by throwing. Bell was optimistic the issue would be a minor one for Candelario.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Not in Friday's lineup

Keith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Keith went 1-for-12 through the first four games of the season, but his bat came alive during Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets as he went 3-for-8 with a walk, a double, an RBI and two runs. Andy Ibanez will start at the keystone Friday against Oakland lefty JP Sears.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Not in Friday's lineup

Cabrera is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Blue Jays.

Toronto is sending left-hander Yusei Kikuchi to the mound, so the Yankees are going with Jon Berti at third base while the switch-hitting Cabrera begins this one on the bench. After going 7-for-13 in his first three games of the season, Cabrera is 2-for-13 over his last four contests.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Racks up three hits

Arenado went 3-for-5 with an RBI double and a run scored in Thursday's 8-5 win over the Marlins.

Arenado has quietly put together a six-game hitting streak after opening the year 0-for-7 in the first two contests. The third baseman wasn't as quiet in the Cardinals' home opener, knocking his second double through eight games. He's still searching for a home run, but he's hitting .265 with four RBI and three runs scored while occupying a spot in the heart of the order and a starting role at third base, as usual.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Records first MLB stolen base

Keith went 3-for-8 with a walk, a double, an RBI and two runs scored across both games of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets. He also stole a base.

The double and the stolen base were both firsts for Keith at the MLB level. The 22-year-old isn't really known for his speed, as he never stole more than four bases in a season during his time in the minors. Instead, Keith should display more power when he settles in with the Tigers, as he posted an .890 OPS last season with Triple-A Toledo and a .976 OPS in 2022 with Double-A Erie. He only has a .554 OPS so far this year, but fantasy managers should remain patient because the upside is there.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

Marlins' Jake Burger: Homers twice in loss

Burger went 2-for-2 with two solo home runs and a pair of walks in Thursday's 8-5 loss to the Cardinals.

Burger got Miami on the board in the fourth inning, leading off the frame with his first homer of the year, before extending the Marlins' lead to 4-1 in the fourth with a second long ball off Lance Lynn. Burger has swung the bat well to open the season, hitting safely in seven of eight games while batting out of the three spot. Overall, he's gone 11-for-31 with 10 RBI after slashing .250/.309/.518 with 34 homers and 80 RBI across 141 games between the Marlins and White Sox in 2023.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Tigers' Gio Urshela: Sitting for nightcap

Urshela isn't in the Tigers' lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Urshela went 3-for-5 with two RBI and scored a run during Detroit's win over the Mets in Game 1, and he will get a breather for the second game of Thursday's slate. Andy Ibanez will fill in at the hot corner and bat seventh.
