Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Exits with lower-back tightness
Arenado was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies due to lower-back tightness.
It's not clear when or how Arenado suffered the injury, but he was replaced on defense prior to the bottom of the seventh inning. The star third baseman was hitless in three plate appearances before exiting. Arenado can be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Taylor Walls 3B | TB
Rays' Taylor Walls: Expected to return Sept. 1
Walls (oblique) is on track to be activated from the injured list Sept. 1, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Walls recently turned a corner in his recovery from the left oblique strain that sent him to the injured list four weeks ago. He'll take another round of live batting practice Sunday before then embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham that is slated to run from Tuesday through Thursday. Walls could see significant action at shortstop upon his return with Wander Franco on administrative leave.

Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Nears rehab assignment
Donaldson (calf) is nearing a rehab assignment, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Donaldson is performing all baseball activities without issue as he nears the completion of his recovery from the severe right calf strain that has kept him on the shelf since mid-July. He could return from the 60-day injured list when first eligible in mid-September if all goes well during his minor-league rehab stint, but the 37-year-old might only be a bench bat for New York in the closing weeks of the 2023 campaign.

Trey Cabbage 1B | PIT
Angels' Trey Cabbage: Recalled from Salt Lake
The Angels recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
With Mike Trout (wrist) headed back to the injured list, Cabbage will come up from the minors to take Trout's place and provide additional depth to Los Angeles' outfield. The 26-year-old has slashed .406/.443/.688 with four home runs and 17 RBI across 71 plate appearances since being optioned to Salt Lake at the end of July, though his minor-league success has yet to translate to the big leagues.

Michael Busch 3B | CHC
Dodgers' Michael Busch: Hits first big-league homer
Busch went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against Cleveland.
Busch smacked a 401-foot solo shot off Gavin Williams in the fourth inning for his first long ball as a major leaguer. He added a sacrifice fly in the fifth frame to finish with his first multi-RBI effort. Busch has gone 1-for-7 since being recalled from the minors Tuesday. He had been tearing up Triple-A prior to the promotion, slashing .379/.458/.777 with 11 home runs, 27 RBI and a stolen base across his last 25 games.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Homers in return
Senzel went 1-for-2 with a solo home run Thursday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Senzel was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Thursday afternoon and made an impact in his first game back in the majors, tying the score 1-1 with his eighth-inning solo shot. That at-bat came as a pinch hitter for Nick Martini, who started the game at DH. Senzel appears unlikely to play on an everyday basis, though he could force his way into the lineup if he's able to build upon Thursday's effort and turn around what has been a mostly forgettable campaign thus far.

Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Continues solid rookie campaign
Gelof went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the White Sox in an 8-5 win Thursday.
Gelof's two-run shot in the seventh inning was a big one, as it broke what had been a 5-5 tie. It was the rookie's 10th long ball in just his 35th major-league game -- no other player in Athletics history has achieved that feat, per the team's PR department. Gelof has added 24 runs, 11 doubles, 19 RBI, eight thefts and a .294/.360/.610 slash line while providing considerable excitement for what has otherwise been a dismal season in Oakland.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Homers in three-hit effort
Lewis went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in a 7-5 win against the Rangers on Thursday.
Lewis hit one of five homers for Minnesota in the contest, slugging a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning. The long ball was his second in as many days and his sixth overall this season. Since returning from the injured list Aug. 15, Lewis is batting .333 (10-for-30) with the two home runs, five RBI, four runs and a stolen base over eight games.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Shines in Wednesday's game
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two stolen bases in a 6-1 loss to the Dodgers in Wednesday's suspended game.
Ramirez was about the only bright spot for the Guardians in the contest, which was suspended due to rain after two innings Wednesday before finishing Thursday. The third baseman then went 0-for-4 with a walk in the nightcap, ending the day at a .278/.350/.472 slash line through 122 contests overall. He's up to 19 home runs, 18 steals, 68 RBI and 72 runs scored, and he's gone 8-for-36 (.222) over nine games since returning from a suspension stemming from an incident versus the White Sox earlier in the month.
