  • Ryan McMahon 3B | COL

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Hitting bench Wednesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

With the Rockies and Diamondbacks concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with a southpaw (Jordan Montgomery) on the hill for Arizona, the lefty-hitting McMahon will be given a breather. McMahon had a pair of two-hit games against Atlanta over the weekend but has fallen back into his post-All-Star-break lull at the plate so far in Arizona, as he went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts through the first two games of the series. He's now batting just .119 with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate in the second half.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | NYY

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Expected to receive promotion

The Yankees are expected to recall Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take the roster spot of the injured Jazz Chisholm (elbow), Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

There's still no word yet on the seriousness of Chisholm's left UCL injury, but a trip to the 10-day injured list is a foregone conclusion. Peraza is the logical choice to replace him on the roster and could see some action at third base in Chisholm's stead, although Oswaldo Cabrera and/or DJ LeMahieu figure to be given first dibs. The 24-year-old Peraza has yet to play an inning for the Yankees this season, having slashed .244/.351/.382 with eight homers and 17 steals across 65 contests with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Bowing out of starting nine

Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Garcia will get a breather as the Royals wrap up their series in Minnesota with a day game after a night game. He had started in each of Kansas City's last eight games, going 8-for-32 (.250 average) with four runs, three RBI and one stolen base.

  • Jon Berti 3B | NYY

Yankees' Jon Berti: Nearing rehab assignment

Berti (calf) could begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week, per MLB.com.

Berti has been participating in hitting and fielding drills at the Yankees' complex in Tampa, Fla. The 34-year-old last saw game action May 24, so his rehab stint could last several games. Berti is likely to settle into a utility role upon his return, and he could help fill the team's void at third base with Jazz Chisholm heading to the injured list due to an elbow injury.

  • Nationals' Andres Chaparro: Smacks three doubles in debut

Chaparro went 3-for-4 with three doubles, one RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Orioles.

According to Jessica Camarato of MLB.com, Chaparro became just the fourth player since 1901 to hit three doubles in his major-league debut. He hit .328 with 23 home runs and 85 RBI at Triple-A this year and should continue to get opportunities to prove himself as a worthy trade-deadline acquisition.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | HOU

Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers in fourth straight

Bregman went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and a second run scored in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Bregman put the Astros ahead 2-1 in the fifth inning with a two-out blast off Shane Baz, his fourth long ball in as many games. The 30-year-old third baseman has been red hot at the dish -- he's hit safely in eight straight games, going 16-for-37 (.432) with four homers and nine extra-base hits in that span. Bregman's now slashing .263/.321/.449 through 505 plate appearances this year with 19 homers, 59 RBI, 65 runs scored and three stolen bases.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Homers in loss

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Reds.

Arenado's 400-foot blast off Hunter Greene in the seventh inning was the only offense the Cardinals could muster Tuesday. It was his first long ball since July 26, but he has gone 15-for-45 with eight RBI so far in August. On the season, the third baseman is hitting .270 with 12 homers, 53 RBI and 49 runs scored across 472 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Hits 19th homer in win

Candelario went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals.

Candelario took Erick Fedde deep in the sixth inning for his 14th long ball at Great American Ballpark. After a disappointing July, he has hit safely in eight of 11 August contests with four extra-base hits and five RBI. On the season, the 30-year-old is hitting .228 with 19 homers, 55 RBI and 46 runs scored across 443 plate appearances.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | ATL

Tigers' Gio Urshela: Big game in rout

Urshela went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 15-1 win over the Mariners.

Urshela had a fifth of Detroit's whopping 20 hits as a team, giving him his first four-hit effort of the season. The infielder raised his batting average from .237 to .247 in the process. It's been a disappointing campaign for Urshela, who also missed time earlier in the year with a hamstring injury, but the veteran is capable of delivering some useful fantasy lines when he's in the lineup.

  • Jazz Chisholm 3B | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Headed for IL

Manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Chisholm suffered a UCL injury in his left elbow, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Boone noted that the team is still trying to determine the severity of Chisholm's injury, but he will almost certainly need to spend time on the injured list and may require surgery. The 26-year-old has slashed .316/.361/.702 with seven homers and 11 RBI in 61 plate appearances since joining the Yankees while primarily playing third base. Oswaldo Cabrera is likely to see regular reps at the hot corner while Chisholm is out.
