  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Rejoins starting nine

Muncy (wrist) will serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter and cleanup batter in Monday's series finale in San Diego.

J.D. Martinez will receive a planned day off Monday to open up the DH spot for Muncy, who had sat out each of the first three games of the series while recovering from the bruised left wrist he sustained Thursday, when he was hit by a pitch in an 8-2 win over the Athletics. Though Muncy bats from the left side of the plate, he throws with his right hand, so the injured wrist shouldn't present too many issues for him in the field while he's able to protect it with his glove. Assuming he checks out fine Monday as the Dodgers' DH, Muncy could be ready to resume starting at third base as soon as Tuesday in Arizona.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Thrives in Sunday's win

Gelof went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two runs in a win over the Giants on Sunday.

Gelof authored one of a trio of three-hit efforts for the Athletics on the afternoon and his fourth multi-hit tally in the last seven games overall. The rookie has been as good as anticipated following his promotion from Triple-A Las Vegas, and he's opened August by going 7-for-18 with Sunday's double, two solo home runs, a pair of walks, Sunday's steal and four total runs over his first five games of the month.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Swipes two bags Sunday

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox.

Ramirez is now 16-for-20 on stolen-base attempts this season, with six steals coming in his last 16 games. The 30-year-old third-baseman has swung the bat well recently, boosting his slash line to .289/.361/.500 with 18 home runs, 67 runs scored and 65 RBI through 479 plate appearances this season. Though Ramirez is a must-start player even when he's in the midst of a slump, fantasy managers will have to keep close tabs on his status ahead of the Guardians' series opener with the Blue Jays on Monday. In Saturday's loss to the White Sox, Ramirez was ejected for exchanging punches with shortstop Tim Anderson, and both players seem likely to face suspensions as a result of the incident. Major League Baseball is expected to levy punishment at some point Monday.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jace Peterson: Logs steal in loss

Peterson walked as a pinch hitter and stole a base in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Minnesota.

Peterson's theft was one of eight on the day for Arizona, which apparently tried to run its way out of a slump that reached six consecutive losses Sunday. It was the second straight game with a steal for Peterson, who is 3-for-13 with two steals (caught once) since joining the Diamondbacks. With second baseman Ketel Marte (quadriceps) leaving the game, Peterson could slot in at the keystone if the injury lingers.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

    Angels' Gio Urshela: Ditches crutches

Urshela (pelvis) said Sunday that he resumed walking without the aid of crutches earlier in the week, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Urshela has been out since mid-June with a fractured left pelvis, an injury that the Angels announced will keep him out for the remainder of the season. Fortunately for Urshela, he'll avoid surgery to address the injury, and he said Sunday that he should be in store for a normal offseason. The 31-year-old is set to become a free agent this winter and will likely have to settle for a one-year deal on the open market.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Suffers broken thumb

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Jung was diagnosed with a fractured left thumb Sunday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury during the sixth inning of Sunday's win over the Marlins while attempting to field a line drive. Jung doesn't have an official timeline for his return, but he's likely looking at a multi-week absence, at least. Ezequiel Duran and Josh Smith are the probable replacements at third base for Texas.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Leaves with thumb injury

Jung was removed from Sunday's game against the Marlins with an left thumb contusion, Kennedi Landry of MLB.comreports. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout prior to his departure.

Jung appeared to suffer an injury while fielding a line drive during the sixth inning and was replaced in the field for the following frame. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener at Oakland.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Remains on bench Sunday

Muncy (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Muncy exited Thursday's game against Oakland after being hit by a pitch on the left wrist, and the bruise will keep him out of the starting nine Sunday for the third straight game. It's unclear if the 32-year-old will be available to pinch hit. Chris Taylor receives another look at third base while Enrique Hernandez starts in left field.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Draws fourth consecutive start

Madrigal will start at third base and bat eighth Sunday against Atlanta.

Madrigal will take a four-game hitting streak into Sunday's contest as he picks up his fourth consecutive start. Though Madrigal's lack of power (one home run) and modest speed (eight stolen bases in 10 attempts) limit his fantasy ceiling, he should be a plus source of batting average while he's continuing to get regular playing time. He appears to have at least temporarily seized hold of a steady role at the expense of Seiya Suzuki, who is on the bench for a fourth consecutive matchup against a right-handed starting pitcher.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Brewers' Brian Anderson: Playing little since activation

Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Anderson was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Thursday, but he's started in just one of the Brewers' ensuing four games. When healthy this season, Anderson has handled a near-everyday role while moving between third base, the corner outfield and designated hitter, but he looks like he'll have to settle for part-time duty for the time being. Andruw Monasterio has settled in as the Brewers' main starter at the hot corner, while the trio of Christian Yelich, Mark Canha and Sal Frelick are operating as Milwaukee's primary options at the corner-outfield spots and DH.
