Phillies manager Rob Thomson expects Sosa (foot) to return to the lineup Thursday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Sosa was a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup due to a bruised left foot, which occurred when he fouled a ball off the area. However, Sosa likely could have played if needed, and he'll miss only one day of action.

Muncy will undergo X-rays on his left hand after being hit by a pitch in Wednesday's Cactus League game versus the Rangers, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Muncy was struck by a Cody Bradford offering in the first inning. He initially stayed in the game and played a few frames on defense before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the fourth. The Dodgers should have an update on the third baseman's status later Wednesday or Thursday.

Groshans was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Wednesday.

He'll exit the 40-man roster in favor of Jahmai Jones, who was scooped up via waivers. Groshans was a waiver claim himself just a couple weeks ago and now could be on the move again.

Senzel had been set to return from an illness, but the Nationals felt it was best to give him at least one more day to recover. Ildemaro Vargas will sub in for Senzel at third base Wednesday.

San Francisco has been viewed as the favorite to land the third baseman throughout the offseason, but there doesn't currently appear to be much momentum toward a deal. Chapman spent the past two years in Toronto and hit 17 homers with a .240/.330/.424 slash line in 140 games during 2023.

Bohm (neck) will make his Grapefruit League debut for the Phillies on Wednesday against Atlanta, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Bohm's spring debut has been delayed about a week due to neck spasms, but he's good to go now. The 27-year-old third baseman slashed .274/.327/.437 with 20 home runs in 145 games last season and will look to take another step forward in 2024.

Peraza was scratched from the Yankees' Grapefruit League lineup Tuesday because of shoulder tightness, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

The Yankees do not have any tests planned at the moment, as they're hopeful it's merely a day-to-day situation. Assuming health, Peraza is projected to open the season either in a reserve role for the Bronx Bombers or back at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he can play every day.

Kennedy was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Brandon Crawford. Kennedy was a waiver claim from the Athletics earlier this offseason and will now go through the waiver process again.
