Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Leaves early vs. Phillies
Donaldson left Wednesday's game against the Phillies in the third inning, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
No reason has been given for why Donaldson exited the game. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has replaced the third baseman.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Expected back at Triple-A on Friday
Baty is expected to return to Triple-A Syracuse's lineup Friday after he was diagnosed with right thumb inflammation following an MRI, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Baty previously had the same thumb surgically repaired Sept. 1 of last year, but he appears to have avoided a significant setback after re-injuring the thumb Tuesday. He'll still likely be held out of action for the next couple of days while he tends to inflammation, but he should be back in action before the weekend. The third base prospect is off to a strong start through four games at Syracuse this season, slashing .400/.471/.867 start with two home runs and two steals. Baty's hot start combined with Eduardo Escobar's poor performance at the big-league level could mean a quick promotion for Baty if he keeps raking.

Max Muncy 3B | LAD
Dodgers' Max Muncy: Slugs first homer of 2023
Muncy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rockies.
The home run was the first of the season for Muncy, who recently moved past a lower-body injury that kept him out for a game. Though he came away with hits in his first two trips to the plate Tuesday, Muncy still doesn't look to be completely dialed in just yet, as he struck out swinging and looking in his final two plate appearances. He's struck out in 11 of his 23 plate appearances to date (47.8 percent).

Gunnar Henderson SS | BAL
Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Returns to lineup
Henderson (hand) is in the lineup hitting fifth and playing third base for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Henderson was ruled out for Tuesday's game while dealing with soreness in his right hand, but he's back in the lineup for Wednesday's affair against the Rangers. The rookie infielder will man the hot corner, and Terrin Vavra will start at DH and hit sixth against Jacob deGrom and the Texas pitching staff.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: MRI reveals no structural damage
Baty is day-to-day with right thumb inflammation after an MRI revealed no structural damage, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Baty left Tuesday's game for Triple-A Syracuse after injuring the thumb, and it was a concern for all involved that it was the same thumb that required surgery for a torn ligament back in September. The 23-year-old top prospect will likely sit for a day or two while recovering, but it does appear he's mercifully avoided a serious injury.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Sitting Wednesday
Escobar will take a seat Wednesday versus the Brewers.
Escobar will be on the bench for the second time in three games Wednesday after he went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's loss. Luis Guillorme will replace him at third base and bat ninth in the series finale with Milwaukee.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Stays hot Tuesday
Chapman went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Royals.
What a start to the season for the veteran third baseman. Chapman has banged out multiple hits in four of the first five games, batting .579 (11-for-19) with five doubles, three RBI and four runs scored. He's still looking for his first homer, but given how locked in he is at the plate, it seems only a matter of time before he puts one over the fence.

Jake Burger 1B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: Back in big leagues
The White Sox recalled Burger from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Burger narrowly missed out on a spot on Chicago's Opening Day roster, but he'll be up with the big club just one week into the season with Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) heading to the 10-day injured list. While Jimenez is sidelined, the lefty-hitting Gavin Sheets will likely be the top candidate to step in as the White Sox's primary designated hitter, with the righty-hitting Burger representing a potential platoon mate.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Goes yard again Tuesday
Riley went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.
His first-inning blast off Steven Matz gave Atlanta all the offense it would need in a 4-1 win. Riley has hits in four straight games and homers in two straight, as the streaky third baseman looks to put together an early season heater.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Heads to bench
Wisdom is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Wisdom has gotten off to a stellar start to the 2023 campaign, going 6-for-16 with two home runs, two doubles, a walk, five RBI and five runs while starting in four of the Cubs' first five games. He'll be on the bench for the second time this season while Nick Madrigal gets a turn at third base for Wednesday's matinee game, but Wisdom should hold down a near-everyday role so long as he's swinging a hot bat.
