Red Sox's Alex Bregman: Will be activated this weekend

Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Thursday that Bregman (quadriceps) will be activated from the 10-day injured list this weekend, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Cora added that Bregman will be in the lineup for two of the final three games of a four-game set against the Rays, although the skipper didn't specify which games it would be. Bregman has been sidelined since late May due to a strained right quad and will rejoin the active roster without a rehab assignment.

  • Brady House SS | WAS

    Nationals' Brady House: Idle Thursday

House isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Despite recording a base hit in each of his last four games and seven of his last eight, House will stay put in the dugout Thursday while Paul DeJong starts at the hot corner and bats sixth.

  • Mariners' Ben Williamson: Day off Thursday

Williamson isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Williamson will take a seat Thursday after collecting a base hit in each of the first two games of the series. Miles Mastrobuoni will fill in as Seattle's third baseman and bat ninth.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Not in lineup for second contest

Mauricio is absent from the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader in Baltimore.

Mauricio went hitless in four plate appearances in the first game of the double dip and will now receive some rest in the second contest. Brett Baty is at third base and Luisangel Acuna is at second base for the Mets in Game 2.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

    Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Idle Thursday

Peraza isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Peraza will give way to Jorbit Vivas at the hot corner Thursday after going 1-for-8 with an RBI, a run and two strikeouts over the first two games of the series.

  • Cam Collier 3B | CIN

Reds' Cam Collier: Hitting for average at Double-A

Collier is hitting .303 with zero home runs in 20 games for Double-A Chattanooga.

Collier missed the first six weeks of the minor-league season while recovering from left thumb surgery. He slashed .338/.443/.514 with two home runs, a 15.9 percent walk rate and a 20.5 percent strikeout rate across 21 games while rehabbing and easing into things in the lower levels before getting promoted to Double-A on June 17. Collier has controlled the zone at Double-A (0.83 BB/K), but his power has been lacking since returning from the thumb issue. He is one of the youngest hitters at Double-A and won't turn 21 until November.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Slugs 14th homer

Riley went 2-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the A's.

The third baseman took Mitch Spence deep in the second inning, staking Atlanta to an early 6-0 lead. Riley appears to be kicking off his usual summer surge -- he has a career .955 OPS in July, the highest in any month for his career, and his .867 mark in August is second -- and over his last 10 games he's batting .333 (14-for-42) with four homers and two homers. On the season, he's up to 14 home runs and 47 RBI in 91 games with a .274/.324/.441 slash line.

  • Rays' Junior Caminero: Belts 22nd homer

Caminero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Tigers.

Just named to his first All-Star Game, Caminero wrapped up the scoring on the night by clobbering a Chase Lee sweeper to lead off the seventh inning. The 22-year-old third baseman is up to 22 homers on the season, including five in his last 16 games, but he's otherwise in a bit of a rut and is slashing .224/.239/.493 over that stretch with a 2:18 BB:K.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Homers in three straight

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Houston.

Ramirez hit the second of back-to-back home runs in the first inning. It was the third consecutive game that he's gone deep. He later was part of a double steal in the seventh that put him in position to score the Guardians' third run. Ramirez is up to 17 home runs and 25 steals through 88 games.

  • CJ Alexander 3B | LAD

Dodgers' CJ Alexander: Remains in organization

The Dodgers outrighted Alexander to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Alexander cleared waivers after being removed from the Dodgers' 40-man roster but will remain in the organization as a depth corner infielder and outfielder. He's a career .259/.328/.482 hitter at the Triple-A level.
