  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Indians' Yan Gomes: Goes deep against Astros

Gomes went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Saturday's win against the Astros.

Saturday marked Gomes' sixth home run of the season, bringing him nearly halfway to his total from a season ago. The strikeouts remain an issue for Gomes at 33.9 percent entering Saturday, but he's making good contact and getting on base at a solid clip. Gomes has reestablished himself as a viable option at catcher even in 12-team leagues.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

    Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Homers twice

Sanchez went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, three RBI, and two runs scored Saturday against the Royals.

This performance was Sanchez's third multi-homer effort of the season and brought his home-run total to 12. The four-hit effort brought his average up to .225 -- his highest mark of the season -- and it could continue to rise if his .215 BABIP improves. A bump in average would boost his value even more, as he is already providing exceptional counting stats -- especially as a catcher.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Tigers' James McCann: Not starting Saturday

McCann is not in the lineup Saturday against Seattle.

McCann is hitting a solid .265/.327/.394 with three homers in 147 plate appearances so far this season. He'll get the day off in favor of Grayson Greiner on Saturday.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Sits again Saturday

Garver is not in the lineup Saturday against the Brewers.

Since Jason Castro went down with a season-ending knee injury May 5, Garver has started six times, with Saturday's starter Bobby Wilson getting the nod in seven games. The playing time breakdown between the pair is not yet clear, though Garver's .254/.309/.413 line would seem to give him an edge over Wilson's .158/.182/.368.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Day off Saturday

Vazquez is not in the lineup Saturday against Baltimore, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Vazquez has held onto his starting job despite a .191/.238/.235 line through 123 plate appearances. He's always been a glove-first catcher, but no amount of defensive excellence is enough to make a player with that slash line a positive contributor. Sandy Leon, who starts Saturday, is not faring much better, hitting just .193/.241/.255, so Vazquez seems to have a safe job for now, though his fantasy value will remain limited unless he turns things around at the plate.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Homers against Yankees

Perez went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBI as the Royals topped the Yankees 5-2 on Friday.

Perez had seen his average dip to .244 after a brief 0-for-11 skid, but he broke out of that with his sixth long ball of the season, moving his OPS back up to .802 since his return to action from the disabled list. Perez's proven track record as a power-hitting catcher as well as his reliably heavy workload should allow him to continue functioning as one of the better fantasy options at the position throughout the season.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Stationed on bench Friday

Garver is out of the lineup versus the Brewers on Friday.

Garver will receive a breather in favor of Bobby Wilson after going 1-for-4 with a run scored during Wednesday's series finale against St. Louis. Over 21 games this year, Garver is hitting .254/.309/.413 with two home runs and six RBI.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Rangers' Jose Trevino: Returns from quad injury

Trevino (quadriceps) has gone 8-for-17 with a pair of home runs and a triple since being reinstated from the 7-day disabled list at Double-A Frisco on May 11.

Trevino was sidelined for just under two weeks with the right quad strain. The 25-year-old possesses a spot on Texas' 40-man roster, but it's unlikely he'll be promoted to the majors before September unless one of the top two catchers in the organization (Robinson Chirinos and Carlos Perez) misses time.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Heads to bench Thursday

Vazquez is not in the lineup Thursday against the Orioles, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Vazquez will head to the bench for a breather after starting the past two games behind the dish and going 1-for-6 in those contests. In his stead, Sandy Leon will start at catcher and hit eighth.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Indians' Yan Gomes: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Gomes is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Tigers, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

He has started the last four games, so it's no surprise that Cleveland will rest him in the day game at Comerica Park. Gomes is hitting .250/.325/.361 with one home run and a 37.5 percent strikeout rate in 36 at-bats this month. Roberto Perez is starting behind the dish, hitting ninth.
