  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Won't start Sunday

Langeliers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

He'll be receiving some routine maintenance after starting at catcher each of the past three days. Kyle McCann will spell Langeliers behind the dish Sunday.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Getting rest Sunday

Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Fermin was behind the plate for all nine innings of Saturday's 5-1 win, so he'll be given a breather for the day game Sunday. Salvador Perez will handle catching duties for Kansas City.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Receiving breather Sunday

Wells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Wells worked behind the plate in the first three games of the series and will receive a break in the finale after going 1-for-11 with a walk and four strikeouts. Jose Trevino will do the catching for lefty Carlos Rodon.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Getting Sunday off

Rogers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Rogers will get a break for the day game after he caught all nine innings of the Tigers' 4-2 loss Saturday night. Dillon Dingler will check in for Rogers behind the dish.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: Rare steal in win

Fermin went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Pirates.

Fermin has gone a modest 6-for-28 (.214) over 10 games in September. He's seen the bulk of the work behind the dish since Vinnie Pasquantino (thumb) got hurt, as Salvador Perez has seen more frequent looks at first base. Fermin has been quietly decent this year with a .286/.335/.387 slash line, six home runs, 36 RBI, 39 runs scored and two steals across 344 plate appearances.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Getting Saturday off

Heim is absent from Saturday's lineup against Seattle.

Heim went 0-for-4 with one strikeout in the Rangers' 5-4 loss to the Mariners on Friday. Since the beginning of September, he's gone just 1-for-29 with six strikeouts. Carson Kelly will start behind home plate Saturday while batting eighth.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Not starting Saturday

Rortvedt is not in Saturday's lineup against the Guardians.

Rortvedt has been getting the majority of the reps behind the plate for the Rays, but he'll be out of the lineup for the second straight game. Logan Driscoll -- who smacked the first homer of his career Friday -- will take Rortvedt's spot in the lineup.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Idle Saturday

Wong isn't in Boston's lineup for Saturday's game versus the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Wong will get a breather Saturday after going 1-for-6 with two walks through the first two games of the series. Danny Jansen will catch instead for Brayan Bello while batting eighth.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Goes yard in Friday's win

Perez went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 8-3 win over the Pirates.

Perez provided a big knock with a homer in the second inning to cap a six-run rally. He's hit safely and driven in at least one run in five straight contests, posting two homers and eight RBI in that span. The catcher is up to 27 long balls, 103 RBI, 57 runs scored, 27 doubles and a .280/.342/.482 slash line through 145 games this season.

  • Rays' Logan Driscoll: Cracks first career homer

Driscoll went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Friday's 3-1 win at Cleveland.

The 26-year-old rookie opened the game's scoring when he slugged a 393-foot homer off Tanner Bibee in the third inning for his first career long ball. Driscoll is currently the reserve backstop in Tampa Bay behind Ben Rortvedt, and he's hitting .235 (4-for-14) over his first six MLB games. He did flash a solid bat at Triple-A Durham before his promotion, slashing .292/.367/.473 with seven homers across 293 plate appearances, so it's possible the Rays give him more playing time down the stretch.
