  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Slugs eighth homer

Trevino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Trevino is tapping into his power lately with three homers over the last five games. The catcher is up to eight long balls on the year while slashing a strong .271/.317/.451 through 47 contests. He's added 25 RBI and 19 runs scored, but he hasn't hit a double or stolen a base all year.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Slugs grand slam

Rortvedt went 1-for-4 with a grand slam Sunday against Atlanta.

Rortvedt strode to the plate with the bases loaded in the fourth, depositing the first pitch he saw into the right-field seats, clearing the bases and breaking open a tie game. It was the first homer of the season and first career grand slam for Rortvedt, who has seen action in 52 games this season, batting .250 with 14 RBI, 17 runs and a steal over 124 at-bats.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: On bench for nightcap

Jeffers is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader with the Athletics.

Jeffers will get a breather after he went 1-for-4 in the team's 6-2 win over Oakland in Game 1. Christian Vazquez will take over behind the plate and bat eighth in the nightcap.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Back on bench Sunday

Wells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Wells will sit for the second time in the series after making his lone start in Saturday's 8-1 win. Though he's gone 5-for-15 with a home run and walk in his last five games, Wells still appears to be stuck in a timeshare at catcher with Jose Trevino.

  • Rangers' Andrew Knizner: Getting third straight start

Knizner will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Knizner will be making his third consecutive start, but his time as the Rangers' No. 1 catcher should be short-lived. Jonah Heim (personal) was placed on the paternity list Saturday and will rejoin the team no later than Tuesday.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Sitting in opening game of day

Langeliers is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Twins.

Langeliers will get a breather for the early game of the twin bill as Kyle McCann draws the starting nod behind the dish. Expect Langeliers to check back into the lineup as the Athletics' starting catcher for the nightcap.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Retreating to bench role

Caratini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Caratini had started behind the plate each of the past five games, but he'll be back on the bench for the series finale now that top backstop Yainer Diaz has been cleared to resume catching duties. Diaz had missed three straight games with a sore index finger before returning to the lineup Friday and Saturday as the Astros' designated hitter.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Back in lineup as DH

Perez (knee) will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Perez is battling a right knee sprain, but it's said to be relatively minor. He'll play through the injury Sunday, albeit in a non-defensive role. It's uncertain when he may return to catching duties. The team recalled Austin Nola from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday, and Nola's presence on the roster affords Perez and the Royals some time to get him right before he slots back in behind the plate.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Sitting Sunday

Jansen is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Alejandro Kirk will take over behind the plate after Jansen started the first two games of the series. Jansen enjoyed a hot month of May, but his bat has gone cold to begin June; he's just 5-for-35 with two extra-base hits (both doubles) in 11 games so far this month.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Notches second steal

Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rangers.

Raleigh has two steals this year, and they've both come over his last 10 games. In that span, he's gone 8-for-35 (.229) with three extra-base hits and 10 RBI. The catcher is slashing .209/.287/.400 with 12 home runs, 43 RBI and 27 runs scored over 67 contests this year. Raleigh is unlikely to ever hit for a good average, but he has the ability to make an impact with power and run production, especially when hitting in the heart of the order.
