  • Jake Rogers C | DET

    Tigers' Jake Rogers: Idle Saturday

Rogers isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Rogers will sit out Saturday's contest despite recording a base hit in six of his last seven games. Carson Kelly will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Slugs eighth homer

Perez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Friday's 7-1 victory over the Rangers.

Perez's three-run shot off Jose Urena capped off a six-run seventh inning for the Royals and extended the backstop's hitting streak to four games. He has yet to show any signs of slowing down at the plate, slashing .351/.413/.605 with eight homers and 30 RBI across his first 126 plate appearances.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

    Rangers' Jonah Heim: Sitting Friday

Heim is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Kansas City.

Heim started the previous six games and will receive a day off after going 4-for-19 with no extra-base hits during that span. Andrew Knizner will step in behind the plate to catch Michael Lorenzen.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Day off for series opener

Lee is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Lee will get the day off Friday against the Cardinals, with Martin Maldonado filling in behind the dish. Lee owns a .758 OPS with three homers in 58 plate appearances.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Takes seat against LHP

Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets.

Rortvedt will get the day off against lefty Jose Quintana, with freshly called-up Alex Jackson filling in behind the dish. During the Rays last series, Rortvedt went 1-for-9 (.111) with three strikeouts over three games.

  • Rene Pinto C | PHI

Rays' Rene Pinto: Sent down to Durham

Pinto was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Pinto will get an opportunity to re-find his swing at Triple-A after going 2-for-16 (.125) in his last eight games. Alex Jackson was called up in a corresponding move to act as the Rays' secondary catcher.

  • Yankees' Carlos Narvaez: Headed back to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Narvaez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Narvaez was up for three games while Alex Verdugo was on paternity leave but didn't make an appearance. The catcher will return to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he's collected a .718 OPS with two homers in 101 plate appearances this season.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Big night in win

Wong went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over San Francisco.

Wong has been a consistent producer at the dish, never going more than one game without a hit. The catcher, who recorded his eighth multi-hit game Wednesday, is slashing .366/.367/.620 through 75 plate appearances. Those numbers are sure to correct -- a .412 BABIP indicates that -- but Wong has improved his contact rate on pitches in the zone, jumping up to 84.2 percent compared to 74.3 percent in 2023.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Slugs third homer

Jansen went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Royals.

He spoiled Seth Lugo's shutout bid in the seventh inning, but it was the only bright spot on the day for the Toronto offense. Jansen has three homers since making his season debut April 16, all solo shots, but they've all come in his last four starts. The 29-year-old catcher has gone 8-for-30 (.267) in 10 games, but six of those hits have gone for extra bases, including three doubles.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Swats third homer

Lee went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Twins.

Lee took Brock Stewart yard in the seventh inning for his third home run of the season, two of which have come in his last seven starts. He is in a nearly exactly even split for playing time behind the dish, as he's been in the lineup eight times in the White Sox's last 14 games. Overall, Lee has a 111 wRC+ and .328 wOBA across 58 plate appearances this season, and he could continue to slowly take playing time from Martin Maldonado if his strong performance continues.
