Tyler Heineman C | TOR
Blue Jays' Tyler Heineman: Re-entering lineup Wednesday
Heineman (head) will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Heineman exited his most recent start Saturday due to a head contusion, but he avoided a concussion and made enough improvement to play the final two innings of Monday's 15-1 win. He'll make his return to the starting lineup Wednesday, but Heineman is expected to see few opportunities moving forward after top backstop Alejandro Kirk was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Sunday.

Alejandro Kirk C | TOR
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Grabbing seat Wednesday
Kirk is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Colorado.
Kirk started at catcher in each of the last three games after returning from the 7-day injured list, so he'll get some rest during Wednesday's matinee. Tyler Heineman will be behind the dish and bat eighth as Toronto goes for the sweep.

Shea Langeliers C | ATH
Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Homers thrice in win
Langeliers went 5-for-6 with three homers, a double and four runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.
Langeliers posted a historic night at the plate in his first career start in the leadoff spot. He started things off with a leadoff home run before homering again in the fifth and seventh innings. Langeliers became the fifth catcher in MLB history to hit 20-plus homers in three of his first four seasons. He now has 10 home runs since coming back from the All-Star break, which is tied with Kyle Schwarber for the most in baseball.

Yainer Diaz C | HOU
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Pops 16th homer
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Tuesday against the Marlins.
Diaz popped a three-run home run in the fifth inning to provide Houston with some insurance runs, his 16th of the season. While his average has been on the rise for several weeks, Diaz has now begun to hit for power, hitting three homers and two doubles with 10 RBI across his last seven games. His ISO now sits at .171, 29 points above his mark in 2024.

Austin Wells C | NYY
Yankees' Austin Wells: Getting breather Tuesday
Wells isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
Wells will take a seat Tuesday after going 1-for-5 with a run scored during Monday's series opener. Ben Rice will catch instead for starter Will Warren and bat second.

Ali Sanchez C | BOS
Blue Jays' Ali Sanchez: Designated for assignment
The Blue Jays designated Sanchez for assignment Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
The Blue Jays had no use for Sanchez following Alejandro Kirk's return from the injured list Sunday, so the former will now lose his place on the MLB and 40-man rosters. Buddy Kennedy was selected from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the vacant spot.

Dillon Dingler C | DET
Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Exiting starting nine
Dingler is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Twins.
He'll get a well-deserved break after starting each of the previous four contests at catcher. Jake Rogers will be behind the dish and bat ninth while Dingler rests.

Willie MacIver C | TEX
Athletics' Willie MacIver: Back in big leagues
The Athletics recalled MacIver from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old was optioned to Las Vegas in late July but will make a quick return to the majors to replace Austin Wynns (abdomen) on the active roster. MacIver has handled himself well at the plate in his first 17 big-league games this season with a .737 OPS, but he isn't likely to receive regular playing time while serving as the backup to starting catcher Shea Langeliers.
