Sam Huff C | BAL
Rangers' Sam Huff: Knocks fourth homer
Huff went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings loss to the Mariners.
Huff has homered twice in his last three games, and he's up to four long balls on the year. The 24-year-old has gone 8-for-35 (.229 average) since he rejoined the Rangers on Sept. 5. He's slashing .250/.311/.384 with 10 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base through 122 plate appearances this season.

Max Stassi C | SF
Angels' Max Stassi: Solo shot in win
Stassi went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Athletics.
After getting a couple of nights off, Stassi got the start Thursday and capitalized with a solo home run in the eighth inning to extend the Angels' lead to 4-0. The long ball was Stassi's ninth on the season and first in September. He is slashing .182/.268/.307 through 100 games this season and should continue to be part of the Angels' catching rotation to close the campaign.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Heads to bench
O'Hoppe will be on the bench Thursday against Oakland.
O'Hoppe was called up for the first time Wednesday and went 1-for-3 in his MLB debut. He won't make back-to-back starts just yet, with Max Stassi taking over behind the plate.
-
Jonah Heim C | ATL
Rangers' Jonah Heim: On bench Thursday
Heim isn't starting Thursday against the Mariners.
Heim is on the bench for the second time in the last three games after he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout during Wednesday's loss to Seattle. Kevin Plawecki will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Yainer Diaz C | HOU
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Optioned to Triple-A
Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday.
Diaz was subsequently placed on the Astros' taxi squad, so he will hang around the big-league club in case he's needed in the near future. The young backstop has one hit and a walk over just nine plate appearances this season. He will be replaced on the major-league roster by Jake Meyers, who was called up Thursday from Sugar Land.

Christian Bethancourt C | CHC
Rays' Christian Bethancourt: Out of Thursday's lineup
Bethancourt is not in the lineup for Thursday's game at Cleveland, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Bethancourt started the past three games and will take a seat after he went 2-for-11 with an RBI, a run and six strikeouts during that span. Francisco Mejia will step in behind the plate and bat ninth in Thursday's series finale.

Ryan Jeffers C | MIN
Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Hits bench Thursday
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.
After being activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Jeffers made his return to the lineup in Wednesday's 8-4 win and went 0-for-3 with a walk. He'll take a seat for the day game after a night game, but Jeffers should be part of a timeshare at catcher with Gary Sanchez for the final week of the season, if not the Twins' preferred option behind the dish.
-
Eric Haase C | SF
Tigers' Eric Haase: Idle Thursday
Haase is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.
He'll get a breather for the day game after he was behind the plate for all nine innings of the Tigers' 2-1 win Wednesday night. Tucker Barnhart will get the starting nod at catcher, forming a battery with starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez.

Logan O'Hoppe C | LAA
Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Officially promoted
The Angels selected O'Hoppe's contract Wednesday from Double-A Rocket City. He will start at catcher against Oakland and bat eighth, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old backstop has recorded a .961 OPS in Double-A this year and will get his first taste of major-league action as the 2022 season nears its end. It's possible he could remain the Angels' top option at catcher heading into 2023, considering how uninspiring Matt Thaiss and Max Stassi have been behind the plate this season.

Gary Sanchez C | MIL
Twins' Gary Sanchez: Heads to bench
Sanchez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
With Ryan Jeffers (thumb) back in the lineup Wednesday after an extended stay on the injured list, Sanchez's time as the Twins' clear No. 1 catcher looks to be over. Expect the two to work in a timeshare over the final week of the season, with Sanchez also a candidate to pick up starts at designated hitter.
