  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Rangers' Jose Trevino: Hitting well since activation

Trevino (quadriceps) is 7-for-21 with a double and a home run for Triple-A Nashville since being activated off the 7-day injured list last week.

Trevino landed on the IL in mid-May with a quad issue and had an 11-game rehab assignment with the AZL Rangers before returning to Triple-A. The 26-year-old has a .256/.300/.372 slash line in 33 games for the Sounds this season.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Crushes 16th home run

Garver went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win versus Oakland on Thursday.

With the Twins up by one run after seven innings, Garver provided a bit of insurance by launching a 426-foot blast to center field leading off the eighth. The home run was his fourth in only 31 at-bats in July and 16th overall in 172 at-bats this season. In comparison, he slugged only seven long balls in 302 at-bats last year.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Sitting for Game 2

Sanchez isn't in the starting lineup for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Rays.

Sanchez will head to the bench after going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Game 1. Austin Romine is set to handle the catching duties and bat ninth.

  • Matt Thaiss C | BOS

Angels' Matt Thaiss: Out vs. lefty

Thaiss isn't in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Thaiss drew a start Wednesday, but he was unable to collect a base knock (0-for-4). He'll head to the bench with a lefty on the hill for Houston in the series finale. David Fletcher will start at third base and lead off with Thaiss riding the pine.

  • James McCann C | ARI

White Sox's James McCann: Heads to bench

McCann is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.

McCann is just receiving a breather with the White Sox and Royals wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game. Since appearing in the All-Star Game, McCann has gone 2-for-19 in his first starts, but his slash line still sits at a superb .300/.354/.484 for the campaign. Welington Castillo will replace him behind the dish Thursday.

  • Royals' Cam Gallagher: On bench Wednesday

Gallagher will sit Wednesday against the White Sox.

With Martin Maldonado traded to the Cubs, Gallagher is set to split time with Meibrys Viloria behind the plate. Gallagher would seem to be ahead on the depth chart -- considering he was the one on the big-league roster since the start of the season -- though the exact playing time split remains to be seen. Neither catcher makes for a very appealing fantasy option.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Day off Wednesday

Jansen is not starting Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Jansen has climbed out of an extended slump to slash .373/.393/.780 over his last 16 games, numbers partly comprised of six home runs. Luke Maile starts behind the plate in his absence.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Goes deep twice in loss

Narvaez went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Tuesday's loss to Oakland.

For the second time in his last five games, Narvaez collected a pair of homers and drove in all of Seattle's runs in a loss to the Athletics. Both of those games were started by Daniel Mengden, who has now seen Narvaez hit two of the five home runs against him this season. Already in the midst of a breakout campaign, Narvaez has caught fire in July, hitting .367 (11-for-30) with five long balls and nine runs batted in. Overall, he is slashing .297/.368/.504 with 16 homers and 38 RBI this season.

  • Matt Thaiss C | BOS

Angels' Matt Thaiss: Bows out of starting nine

Thaiss will head to the bench for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

The 24-year-old will take a seat for the second straight contest, as David Fletcher once again draws the start at the hot corner. Thaiss has gone 3-for-17 with a homer and four RBI over five games since being promoted July 3.

  • Royals' Cam Gallagher: Moves into starting role

Gallagher will catch and bat ninth Tuesday against the White Sox.

Gallagher looks to be the primary catcher in Kansas City now that Martin Maldonado has been traded to the Cubs. With a very poor .209/.277/.275 slash line, however, he could find himself in a fairly even split behind the plate with Meibrys Viloria.
