  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Resting Sunday

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Andrew Knizner will get the nod behind the dish while Bailey receives a routine rest Sunday after he had started in each of the Giants' last four games.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Brewers' Danny Jansen: Drawing start for day game

Jansen will start at catcher and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

With the Brewers playing a day game after a night game and with top backstop Willson Contreras nursing a bruised hand coming out of Saturday's 3-2 win, Jansen will receive a turn behind the plate. Since being acquired from the Rays on July 28, Jansen is slashing .226/.311/.340 through his first 20 games with Milwaukee.

  • Padres' Freddy Fermin: Receiving rest Sunday

Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Fermin will get a breather for Sunday's matinee after he started behind the plate in each of the previous three contests. Elias Diaz will handle catching duties in the series finale.

  • Henry Davis RF | PIT

    Pirates' Henry Davis: Resting Sunday

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Davis will retreat to the bench after starting behind the plate in the first two contests of the series while going 2-for-7 at the dish. Joey Bart will handle catching duties in the series finale.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: On bench Sunday

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

He'll give way to Luis Torrens behind the plate Sunday after starting at catcher in the first two games of the series. Alvarez has gone 8-for-25 (.320 average) with two home runs in his last seven games.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Out of lineup with hand bruise

Contreras (hand) isn't part of the starting nine for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Contreras was hit on his left hand by an opposing hitter's swing while he was catching during the seventh inning of Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning win. Though Contreras said he lobbied to be included in Sunday's lineup, the Brewers will ultimately err on the side of caution and hold him out. Considering that X-rays on his wrist and hand came back negative, Contreras can be viewed as day-to-day heading into the final week of the season while he manages a bruise.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

    Nationals' Riley Adams: Idle Sunday

Adams is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Adams will take a seat for Sunday's series finale, giving way to Jorge Alfaro behind the plate. Adams and Alfaro have been splitting work recently, with Adams starting in seven of the last 12 games, including Sunday. Alfaro has been behind the plate in all of the other five contests.

  • Cubs' Reese McGuire: Connects for home run in loss

McGuire went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Reds.

Picking up a start for the resting Carson Kelly, McGuire belted his ninth home run of the season in the fifth inning. With Miguel Amaya (ankle) missing significant time this year, McGuire has served as Kelly's top backup behind the plate. However, Amaya recently began a rehab assignment and could return to the Cubs before the regular season ends. His health will factor into McGuire's potential role on Chicago's playoff roster.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: On bench Sunday

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Stephenson will be on the bench for the second time in three games, giving way to Jose Trevino behind the dish. Stephenson is slashing .224/.310/.409 with 12 home runs in 326 plate appearances this season.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

    Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Sitting Sunday

Pages is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

After starting at catcher both of the previous two nights, Pages will give way to Jimmy Crooks behind the plate for Sunday's series finale. Pages has recorded a hit in six of his last seven games, going 9-for-27 (.333 average).
