Liam Hicks C | MIA
Marlins' Liam Hicks: Hitting bench Thursday
Hicks is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Hicks will take a seat for the day game after a night game, opening up a start behind the dish for Rob Brantly. While Nick Fortes is on the injured list due to a Grade 1 oblique strain, Hicks should see the bulk of the starts at catcher. The Rule 5 pickup is batting .194 with no home runs, seven RBI and four runs over 43 plate appearances on the season.

Henry Davis RF | PIT
Pirates' Henry Davis: Back on bench in Bart's return
Davis is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
While Joey Bart (back) was out of the lineup for the previous five games, Davis drew four starts behind the dish and went 3-for-17 with a home run and two RBI during that stretch. Bart has made enough progress with his recovery to resume catching duties in Thursday's series finale, and assuming he steers clear of setbacks, he should see the bulk of the starts moving forward.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Pirates' Joey Bart: Resumes catching Thursday
Bart (back) will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Thursday's game against the Nationals.
Though the Pirates were concerned enough about Bart's health to keep newly acquired Brett Sullivan on hand Thursday in case he needed to be added to the roster as additional catching depth, Bart demonstrated enough progress in his recovery from lower-back soreness to resume catching duties Thursday. The injury kept Bart out of the lineup for five straight games, but assuming he experiences no setbacks Thursday, he should be capable of handling a near-everyday role behind the dish moving forward. Bart had gotten off to a strong start o the season prior to getting hurt, batting .275 with one home run, one stolen base, five RBI and four runs over 12 games.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Day off Thursday
Moreno is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Miami.
Moreno started the first two games of the series but will get a breather for Thursday's matinee. Jose Herrera will do the catching and bat ninth in the series finale.

Henry Davis RF | PIT
Pirates' Henry Davis: Smacks first homer of 2025
Davis went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Nationals.
Davis opened the scoring in the fifth inning, when he took a 92-mph fastball from Mitchell Parker deep to left field for a 392-foot solo homer. It was Davis' first homer of the season, and he drove in another run in the fifth frame on a groundout to third base. With Joey Bart (back) day-to-day, Davis has started in four of the Pirates' last five games. Even when Bart has recovered from his injury, Davis should continue to see more playing time after Endy Rodriguez (finger) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Braxton Fulford C | COL
Rockies' Braxton Fulford: Making major-league debut
Fulford is starting behind home plate and batting ninth against the Dodgers on Wednesday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Fulford will make his first major-league start Wednesday after being called up by the Rockies from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. Fulford started his season in Triple-A strongly with a .868 OPS, five home runs and 10 RBI across 44 plate appearances. Hunter Goodman could see more action as the Rockies' designated hitter for as long as Kris Bryant (back) is on the 10-day injured list, opening up opportunities behind the plate.

Drake Baldwin C | ATL
Braves' Drake Baldwin: Launches first career homer
Baldwin went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays.
Getting the start at DH and batting sixth while Sean Murphy handled duties behind the plate, Baldwin got hold of a Jeff Hoffman splitter and lofted it down the left-field line in the ninth inning for his first career long ball. Baldwin has started only two of nine games at catcher since Murphy came off the IL, but with Marcell Ozuna nursing a sore hip, there could be more opportunities for Baldwin to get into the lineup in the short term. The 24-year-old rookie is batting .216 (8-for-37) through his first 10 big-league games with two RBI and a 4:10 BB:K.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Resting Wednesday
Smith is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Rockies on Wednesday, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Smith will take a seat Wednesday while Austin Barnes starts behind home plate and bats ninth against Rockies right-hander German Marquez. Smith has gone 6-for-12 with one home run and five RBI over his last three games.

Joey Bart C | PIT
Pirates' Joey Bart: Held out again Wednesday
Bart (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
It's the fifth straight start Bart has missed due to lower-back soreness. Bart had been set to go through pregame testing Tuesday to determine his status, and while he has not yet been placed on the injured list, Bart clearly is not yet ready to play. Henry Davis will start at catcher and bat ninth Wednesday.
