  • Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: Unlikely to catch again in 2026

Manager Dave Roberts said Rushing (elbow) has a "very small" chance of being able to play catcher again this season, but the Dodgers are hopeful that the 25-year-old can serve as a left-handed option off the bench if he's able to return from the 10-day injured list, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

Rushing was scratched from the lineup ahead of Sunday's loss to the Red Sox and placed on the injured list Monday due to what the Dodgers referred to as a mild strain of his throwing elbow. He was then sent in for further testing Tuesday, with an MRI revealing a UCL tear in his right elbow. While Rushing is hopeful to avoid surgery and treat the injury with rest and rehab, he won't be cleared to start a throwing program for 4-to-6 weeks, per Sonja Chen of MLB.com, which takes catching and playing first base or a corner-outfield spot off the table. A left-handed hitter, Rushing shouldn't be too affected by the injury at the plate, but the Dodgers likely won't be able to find regular room for him in the lineup so long as Shohei Ohtani is available to serve as their everyday designated hitter. With that in mind, Rushing looks like a safe drop for fantasy managers in nearly every redraft league.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Diamondbacks' James McCann: Drills long ball in loss

McCann went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Padres.

McCann has yet to be held hitless since he was activated from a stint on the injured list due to a quadriceps strain. The catcher extended his hitting streak with a seventh-inning homer. Over nine games since his return, he's gone 18-for-35 (.514) with four homers and 15 RBI. McCann is batting .319 with an .840 OPS, four long balls, 21 RBI, 11 runs scored and five doubles over 99 plate appearances. He'll likely get a short-term bump in playing time while Gabriel Moreno is on the paternity list, though McCann's hot hitting of late could open the door for a few at-bats as the designated hitter as well.

  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Pops sixth homer

Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Tuesday against the Brewers.

Rodriguez led off the fifth inning with a home run, his sixth of the season and first since the All-Star break. He's managed to hit .296 across seven games in that span, logging two RBI and four runs scored. Despite the decent showing of late, Rodriguez may not have regular playing time because the return of Spencer Horwitz will limit Rodriguez's opportunity to start at first base.

  • Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: Diagnosed with UCL tear

Rushing was diagnosed with a slight UCL tear in his right elbow Tuesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Rushing landed on the injured list Monday with an elbow strain, and MRI results confirmed that the 25-year-old backstop suffered ligament damage. The Dodgers are still hopeful that he won't have to undergo season-ending surgery, but he'll still be shut down from all activity for at least a few weeks while he recovers. If Rushing were to play again this year, he would likely be limited to a hitting-only role. Will Smith (neck) is also set to remain on the injured list for another 3-to-4 weeks, so Ben Rortvedt and Hunter Feduccia will handle catching duties for the Dodgers going forward.

  • Luis Torrens C | NYM

Mets' Luis Torrens: Crushes three-run homer Tuesday

Torrens went 3-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and an RBI single during the Mets' 6-2 win over the Guardians on Tuesday.

Torrens got the Mets on the board with a three-run homer off Joey Cantillo in the second inning, though that long ball would not have happened had it not been for a throwing error by Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias to keep the inning alive. Torrens added another run in the fourth, and his four RBI were a season high and most in a game since Aug. 25, 2025 against the Phillies (five). He has gone 8-for-26 (.308) with six RBI and three extra-base hits since the All-Star break.

  • Padres' Rodolfo Duran: Sent back to El Paso

The Padres optioned Duran to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Though he initially stuck around as a third catcher behind Luis Campusano and Freddy Fermin after Fermin returned from the injured list coming out of the All-Star break, Duran will be moved off the active roster with the Padres needing to clear a spot for one of their trade-deadline additions. Across 91 plate appearances with the big club this season, Duran has slashed .146/.222/.305 with three home runs, eight RBI and eight runs.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Resting Tuesday

Campusano isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Arizona.

Campusano has put together a six-game hitting streak, but the Padres will keep him on the bench to begin Tuesday's contest. Freddy Fermin will handle catching duties and bat seventh.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Idle Tuesday

Ruiz isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

Ruiz will get a breather Tuesday after going 2-for-4 with a run scored during Monday's series opener. Harry Ford will fill in as Washington's backstop and bat fifth.

  • Dodgers' Chuckie Robinson: Cut loose from 40-man roster

The Dodgers designated Robinson for assignment Tuesday.

The Dodgers acquired Hunter Feduccia and Ben Rortvedt through trades Monday to serve as replacements for Robinson and Eliezer Alfonzo on the active roster. Robinson was up with the Dodgers for just a day as a temporary depth piece due to Dalton Rushing (elbow) hitting the 10-day injured list Monday.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | LAD

Dodgers' Ben Rortvedt: Summoned to big-league roster

The Dodgers selected Rortvedt's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

With Dalton Rushing (elbow) joining Will Smith (neck) on the injured list Monday, the Dodgers moved quickly to add catching depth to the organization. The Dodgers made trades prior to Monday's deadline to bring in Rortvedt and Hunter Feduccia, both of whom will be activated for Tuesday's game against the Cubs. Though he's spent the entire 2026 campaign to date in the minors, Rortvedt saw big-league action each of the previous four seasons, including at the tail end of 2025 with the Dodgers. Per Sonja Chen of MLB.com, manager Dave Roberts said that Rortvedt is expected to see the "lion's share" of the starts over Feduccia for the time being, with the Dodgers seemingly placing value on Rortvedt's defensive and game-calling skills. Rortvedt has been an easy out at the big-league level, batting just .190 with nine home runs in 227 career games.
