  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Sitting down Saturday

D'Arnaud (head) isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres.

D'Arnaud exited Friday's contest with dizziness after taking a foul ball off his facemask, but he was cleared of a concussion immediately after the game. As a precaution, Atlanta will give the 35-year-old backstop the next two days off, but he is available to play in an emergency situation, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Chadwick Tromp will fill in behind the dish Saturday and Sunday.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Not starting Saturday

Ruiz isn't in the Nationals' lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Ruiz is slashing just .147/.190/.221 through 100 plate appearances on the year, so he will give way to Riley Adams on Saturday as the Nats look for more production at the plate from their catcher.

  • Blake Sabol C | BOS

Giants' Blake Sabol: Sits down versus lefty

Sabol isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Left-hander Ty Blach will start on the mound for Colorado, meaning the lefty-hitting Sabol will begin Saturday's contest on the bench. Curt Casali will start instead behind the dish while batting ninth.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Sitting out third straight

Diaz (hand) isn't in the Rockies' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Left hand soreness will cause Diaz to miss his third game in a row Saturday. The Rockies haven't given any indication that the 33-year-old backstop is trending toward an IL stint, but he may have to spend time on the injured list if his condition doesn't improve within the next couple of days. Hunter Goodman will start behind the plate and bat eighth while Diaz recovers.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Clear to resume baseball activities

Bailey (concussion) was evaluated Friday by Dr. Mickey Collins, a concussion expert in Pittsburgh, and was cleared for baseball activities this weekend, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Bailey has been on the 7-day concussion list twice this month. The catcher is expected to be evaluated by the Giants again next week, so a return is not imminent. Blake Sabol and Curt Casali will continue to share the catching duties until Bailey is activated.

  • Pirates' Yasmani Grandal: Resting Saturday

Grandal isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Grandal will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored during Friday's win. Joey Bart will replace the 35-year-old veteran behind the plate, batting seventh.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Day off Saturday

Amaya isn't in the Cubs' lineup Saturday against Pittsburgh.

After belting a solo homer in Friday's loss, Amaya will sit down for the third game of Chicago's series with the Pirates. Yan Gomes will fill in behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Swats second homer

Fortes went 2-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and two additional runs scored in Friday's 8-0 romp over the Mets.

The catcher turned on a Christian Scott sweeper up in the zone and drove it over the wall in left-center field to cap a four-run second inning for the Marlins. It was only Fortes' second homer of the season, and while he tied his career high by reaching base four times in the victory, his .159/.198/.256 slash line on the season keeps him far from fantasy consideration. It's his work behind the plate that's kept him in the lineup -- Miami's produced three straight shutouts, and Fortes has caught all of them.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Smacks homer in loss

Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Stephenson has four multi-hit efforts over his last five games, and each of those two-hit games has included one knock for extra bases. His homer Friday was his second of the month and fifth of the season. The catcher is up to a .264/.342/.472 slash line with 14 RBI, 18 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles through 120 plate appearances on the year.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Beginning assignment Tuesday

Murphy (oblique) will likely begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Murphy has been on the injured list since Opening Day, but he has now been cleared to test his strained left oblique in a competitive environment. Considering the 29-year-old backstop has missed nearly two months, he will likely require an extended stay in the minors, but he should reclaim his role as Atlanta's everyday catcher once he returns.
