  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Scratched Wednesday

Moreno was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Moreno underwent a dental procedure before Wednesday's game and was scratched as a precaution. Tucker Barnhart will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth, and Moreno should be able to return to the lineup Friday.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Receiving day off

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

After going hitless in seven at-bats while starting behind the plate Monday and Tuesday, Ruiz will get a break Wednesday. Riley Adams will handle the catching duties for the Nationals.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Resting Wednesday

Bailey is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey will get a breather Wednesday after he had caught each of the Giants' last six games. Tom Murphy will fill in for Bailey behind the plate.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: On bench again Wednesday

Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

For the second day in a row, Fortes will be on the bench while Christian Bethancourt draws another start behind the dish. Fortes had started both of the previous two games before Bethancourt picked up consecutive starts of his own, so the Marlins still seem to be viewing the catcher spot as a timeshare.

  • Luke Maile C | KC

Reds' Luke Maile: Draws fourth straight start

Maile will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Maile will make his fourth consecutive start while Tyler Stephenson tends to a hand injury. The Reds continue to view Stephenson as day-to-day, so Maile could soon be headed back to the No. 2 role behind the dish.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Remains out Wednesday

Stephenson (hand) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Diego.

He hasn't played since exiting Saturday's game versus the Rangers following a hit-by-pitch on the right hand. The Reds have an off day Thursday, so they could be aiming for Stephenson to return to action Friday against the Orioles. Luke Maile will catch again Wednesday in Stephenson's place.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Gets breather Wednesday

Bart is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Bart appears to have wrested the No. 1 catching job away from Henry Davis, but the former will hit the bench for Wednesday's day game after spending eight innings behind the dish in a 5-2 loss Tuesday night. Davis will draw the start Wednesday, but he could be headed to Triple-A Indianapolis if Yasmani Grandal (foot) is reinstated from the 10-day injured list this weekend.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: On bench Wednesday

D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Seattle.

He was behind the plate for Tuesday's 3-2 loss, so d'Arnaud will get a break for Wednesday's afternoon contest. Chadwick Tromp will start at catcher and will form a battery with starting pitcher Chris Sale.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Remains sidelined Tuesday

Stephenson (hand) isn't in the Reds' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Stephenson hasn't started a game since being hit in the hand by a pitch during Saturday's game against the Rangers, though he was available off the bench for Monday's contest and presumably is also available if needed Tuesday. In the meantime, Luke Maile will pick up another start behind the plate and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Available off bench Monday

Stephenson (hand) was available off the bench for Monday's 5-2 win over San Diego, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Stephenson, who was hit by a pitch on his right hand Saturday, sat out a second straight game. Luke Maile has operated behind the plate in place of Stephenson.
