  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Sitting Thursday

Stephenson isn't in the Reds' lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Stephenson is currently enjoying a seven-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 9-for-29 with a home run and five RBI. He'll get a breather Thursday while Luke Maile catches for Nick Lodolo and bats ninth.

  • Drew Romo C | COL

Rockies' Drew Romo: Getting rest Thursday

Romo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Romo started behind the plate both of the past two nights, so he'll be given a breather as the Rockies wrap up their series in Washington with a day game. Jacob Stallings will enter the lineup as the Rockies' starting catcher.

  • Cubs' Christian Bethancourt: Homers in loss

Bethancourt went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the Tigers.

Bethancourt's fifth-inning home run, his fourth of the season, provided all of Chicago's offense. The 32-year-old continues to serve as the backup to Miguel Amaya behind the plate, giving him limited upside in the short term. Neither catcher has been great offensively, however, as Bethancourt is sporting a .196 average and .614 OPS, compared to a .212 average and .584 OPS for Amaya.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Sitting down Wednesday

Amaya isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Wednesday's game versus Detroit.

Amaya will get a chance to regroup Wednesday after being held hitless in nine at-bats over his last three games. Christian Bethancourt will catch instead for right-hander Jameson Taillon and bat ninth.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Available off bench

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said that d'Arnaud (wrist) is available off the bench to catch Wednesday versus the Phillies, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

D'Arnaud hasn't played since being hit in the wrist by a pitch Saturday against the Angels. He's feeling much better, although it's not clear when he might be ready to return to the lineup. Sean Murphy will make his third straight start at catcher Wednesday.

  • Nick Fortes C | MIA

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Getting day off

Fortes is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Flores had started each of the Marlins' last four games behind the plate, so he'll be getting a breather for the series finale. Ali Sanchez will step in at catcher in place of Flores, who has been swinging a hot bat lately with a .998 OPS over his last 11 games.

  • Drew Romo C | COL

Rockies' Drew Romo: Getting another start Wednesday

Romo will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Romo didn't start the Rockies' first game after being called up last Friday, but he's now been in the lineup for three of four contests since then and tallied his first major-league hit in Tuesday's game. Jacob Stallings still seems likely to play plenty behind the plate as well with Elias Diaz gone from the team.

  • Curt Casali C | SF

Giants' Curt Casali: Filling in for Bailey at catcher

Casali will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Casali will start behind the dish for the third game in a row after going 3-for-6 with a walk, three runs and an RBI in the first two contests of the series. With Patrick Bailey (oblique) going on the injured list Tuesday, Casali looks poised to operate as the Giants' clear No. 1 catcher for the time being.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Sitting out Wednesday

Alvarez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Alvarez started behind the plate for both of the first two games of the series but will begin Wednesday's finale on the bench. Luis Torrens will handle catching duties for the Mets.

  • Drew Romo C | COL

Rockies' Drew Romo: Tallies first career hit

Romo went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts Tuesday against the Nationals.

Romo was called up to make his big-league debut Friday and has since made two starts. He collected his first big-league hit Tuesday, and notably he was caught stealing. Romo had only three stolen bases with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to being recalled, but he showed an ability to steal bases in the lower levels of the minors. If he reintroduces stolen bases to his game at the big-league level, he could be an intriguing option in deeper leagues down the stretch.
